    Thanks for the replies so far, I've passed on the info. I've tried this rifle and I have to say it is soooo smooth to fire, beautifully balanced and pinpoint accurate - quality engineering ! I've I'd known what he paid for it, I'd have had it myself !!!

    My stepson recently joined my club, and managed to pick himself up a real beauty.......a Ripley AR4, scope, mounts, the works. He doesn't want to divulge on here how much he paid, but trust me when I tell you it was a steal. Any ideas how he can find some history on this rifle ? He can't find a serial number, possibly due to the fact that the trigger unit has been changed ? On the left side of the breech, it's has gold lettering that says "S.R.WILKINS PNEUMATICS" with "SWP 500 PSI" a little further along. I don't know much about Ripley,(actually this is the only one

    On the subject of commercially sold lagers, I have to agree that East European brands are much tastier. My best mate is Hungarian, so we usually hammer Dreher, Arany Aszok or Pecs. Commercially made, but each is very distinctive, and nothing like any lager from the pub.....one or more should be in your nearest East European shop. Worth a try ! My bit of beer trivia..... Never try to clink glasses with a Hungarian ! The story is that they never do it, as Austrian soldiers celebrated that way, after executing Hungarian partisans.

    They're not... yet... But they are ! Until very recently, I lived near an establishment that I initially believed to be a prison. I later learnt that it is, in fact, a GCHQ off-shoot - officially a "communications research and development centre". A chap, who had worked there, joined my shooting club, so I asked him what goes on.     Provided it's used judiciously, I have no problem with smacking kids. As many have already said, it didn't do me any harm ! We got one warning from my mum, and a clout if we did it again. We soon learnt that one warning was all you got, and the number of clouts received went down accordingly !     have you seen the ones made from drinking fountain water bottles they look handy, I was given a carboy (25litre ?) but I never got round to using it.....not hard to acquire though. If you're gonna go, go big !

    I've seen 5 litre plastic demijohns for £4.99........ .....so I bought 5 litres of spring water from Tesco (£1.50). The good lady drank the water, I drilled the lid and sealed an airlock in - sorted !
