As some will already know, I am a shooter of glass marbles - simple reason, they're cheap and easy to get hold of, ! But ............ ........ recently, I've been shooting much more often, but not getting much to show for it. I've noticed the marbles often spin off to one side or dip very quickly, and are generally quite unpredictable. So, I've pushed the boat out and ordered a couple of hundred 9.5mm steel bearings (cheap as chips !) to go with my nice new Dankung tube-set. Just out of interest, I weighed them on the digital kitchen scales. the marbles weigh in at 5 grammes, the bear

Got a good few clipped ears off my Mam, but Dad didn't hold with that sort of thing ! When I was 16/17, I swore at her for the one and only time....................... I feared for my life, but I've never done it again in the 35 years since ! I love my Mum dearly, and I can honestly say that I deserved it every time, so I can't hold it against her.

Desertbred - thank you for being so honest, but you didn't quite answer my question. Maybe I can re-phrase it......... I appreciate that not all Muslims would heed a call to Jihad, yourself included, but IF such a call were made, would you be seen as a heretic ( for want of a better word), for failing to follow your faith 'correctly' ? I guess I'm trying to enquire whether some be swayed to do things they wouldn't ordinarily do, if their faith demanded it ? Hope that's a bit clearer........... Like I said, just a genuine question, not an attempt to trip anyone up...................

The current Mrs BB (she of the very tiny hands! ) was telling me about someone on Facebook, who's made one of those 'bucket lists', you know 'things to do before you die' kind of thing. I gave some brief thought to mine - sky-diving, swimming with dolphins, all the usual - then a sobering thought struck me................... Here I was, making up this list of extraordinary and memorable things to do, and there's loads and loads of ordinary, everyday things I've never done. Things some people do on an almost daily basis, have never entered my sphere of existence...................

Can I ask DB a straight question - no attempts to trick or trip up. Straight question, straight answer ! You're the only person here who can answer it with any kind of insight, you see........... What would happen if the very, very highest and most respected Muslim clerics( preachers, Ayatollahs, whatever you want to call them) called on ALL followers to turn against non-believers, and take the path to Jihad ? Would followers' loyalties be to the laws of their resident country, or would they be obligated to obey the clerics ?
