  1. Thats a poor looking Deerhoundy bitch, short coupled, short necked, narrow fronted and weak skulled, the dog looks a tad wider between the ears but is slender jawed and as weak looking as the bitch.A very poor representation of a Deerhoundy. haha, bit harsh morton.short coupled and short neck could be solved by showing it something and they'll stand better.other crtisism's can see your point.look at the back foot on the bitch. Deerhoundys where noted for their strength, long back, long powerfull neck and a jaw suited to their frame, wide and powerful stance and an invincible aura,i didn,t get any of
  2. This old book MF? had it about 25 years seen them go for up to £150 on ebay. No, not that one though I enjoyed it when I read it years ago. The one I meant was Darcy's one here http://www.ebay.ie/itm/The-hare-and-the-swift-hound-Jonathan-darcy-working-lurcher-book-/282129386762?hash=item41b038cd0a:g:AwYAAOSw-itXqi-3 "The Hare and the Swift Hound".I'd like a copy of Dutch Salmons one too.I think it has a similar title to the one in your picture. Here we are http://www.high-lonesomebooks.com/pages/books/15589/dutch-salmon/gazehounds-coursing enjoyed the dutch salmon book a good read.

  7. Hares can be the strangest aswell as most fascinating of creatures, seen them sitting watching dogs running towards them and waiting til the last second before attempting to get to safety, another time we were heading back after a day on the land when a hare come over the field and lay down, we had 4 lurchers and a terrier with us and we still could'nt put her up, no wonder there is so many myths and folklore on them, weird things alright and true survivors
  8. Good find that, I paid 35 sheets for a first edition copy of longdogs by day not so long ago, also lost lurchers and longdogs after lending it out to a plug
  9. Very interesting to hear first hand about the dogs from the early days, and the great days that were had on the land with them, keep the stories coming stone rose mate
  10. Saw some footage of G . C's Sally piling the pressure on even when they were out in the open with plenty of room, class style to watch run
  11. Good lad Beefy, it's about time someone had a word with Packham, there was mention of the wrongs of hare coursing on autumnwatch I think it was last year without anyone to defend the fact that it had been a traditional countrysport followed and enjoyed by people from all kinds of backgrounds for such a long time, hope this can be the start to countering all the one sidedness
  12. Good words mate, we used to have some fun with the 3/4 greyhounds, and other lurcher to lurcher crosses years ago, and it would be interesting to see some of these running again, but when you are limited to the amount of dogs you can run, you have to make your choice, and it's hard to overlook the obvious choice, like other people have mentioned in the past, the work has been done for us by the keen lads over recent decades
