You ain’t wrong there Les ! ...there was no flight lines anywhere I could see just the odd bird coming from all angles . Once I had a couple down the ff5’s helped pull in any that came over but it was literally the odd bird ..the blacks gave a bit of sport as well so wasn’t a bad way to spend an afternoon ..and the dog had a few retrieves so she was happy ..

.... get over about two and get set up there coming in late afternoon the farmer said ....I’m over set up at nine got the hide built and went for breakfast ..got back about one and waited ....not a pigeon to be seen for four hours . I had a couple of crow decoys I put out after seeing a few crossing a tree line at the top of the field , and had an immediate response with a couple of jackdaws , gradually there was a little bit of action starting and about six a few pigeons came in to the decoys , two went on the Ff5’s and they pulled a few more in ..sadly nothing that could be described as a fi

If you go into a Lions cage two things can happen .. 1..You get out unhurt ...( this is good luck ) 2..The lion eats you ...( your food ) Advice ....if you are stupid , want or need to go in a lions cage make sure you have a competent person with a big fcuk of gun outside instead of onlookers with cameras ..

Sometimes it’s work and needs must ..always difficult at this time of the year ..since the small Shoot shut down on my boundary I’ve not bothered to shoot the foxes in the garden as it seems a bit pointless . Our chicken are behind electric and Charlie can do night shift on the rabbits for me ...I may live to regret it I know .

Half three in the morning and I’m awake ! Got up for a piss and can’t get back to kip .Went to bed at ten so I’ve had over five hours and I’ll spend an hour or so flicking through THL before I can get back to sleep , I’ll be up at six as usual. This is fairly normal nightnights sleep pattern since I hit my sixties, compared to my younger days when I worked all day and was out half the night with the dogs or guns sleep was a few hours grabbed when I could spare the time with seemingly little effect . How did they allow the numbers to increase to such proportions in the mild years , knowing you have a fenced area and only enough grazing for a certain amount of animals it doesn’t take the greatest mind to know at some point it’s going to go tits up when you have that cold winter ..With no apex predators to control numbers it was a forgone conclusion..
