  1. Had a little bang today , they came in well to start but petered of late morning ..nice outing though . picked up 31 with another four deciding to fly on and die in the headland a field away ..didn’t want the dog hunting up the headland because of the gamebirds nesting ..

  5. I bought 4 of them mate , not one of them got used , moved them to different places around the barn still nothing ,had one on each elevation but for some reason they just don’t like the position , maybe a little to exposed and we do have a few spars about .My pal next door get loads nesting around the farm buildings with out trying , it is a lot more compact round there with easy access into the old buildings ...
  6. Just to clarify...I live in the barn and have done for a dozen years so they weren’t born it and as much as I like swallows I can’t leave a door open 24/7 and even my old lady who is as layed back as it gets would struggle with a family of swallows sh1ting every where ....Before I bought it it was a joinery workshop that was shut up .I have over the years tried nesting boxes to encourage them to nest outside with no luck ..wether it’s down to being to exposed I don’t know but they haven't nested .. When I first moved here there was hardly any song birds and I have spent the last dozen or
  7. You won’t run out of ammo in a hurry ?
  8. This is number eight that’s come down the chimney into the wood burner this year , only need one more for the record , We also have a swallow intent on nesting in the barn so having to keep the doors shut . Saturday it was flying through the front doors out the back like it was casing the joint but then started to go up in the rafters looking to nest so I’ve shut it out ..
  9. I would think a sealing issue , if air is getting in the water will ..Olympus must offer a warranty so I would be surprised if they didn’t repair them for free given they look brand new ..

  11. I was shooting one Saturday..mossberg pump action with a moderator ....? ....out of the need to remain good neighbours..thankfully at 8 am I got the miroku out ..In fairness the actual calibre wasn’t to bad just the length of the mossberg and trying to work the action and get back on target which was impossible!
  12. Mine would have been for sure today , quite a few birds crossing at forty yds up I didn’t bother shooting at , they would have been no problem with the pigeon extreme 5’s ..I’ve only used the 410 a couple of times and really struggled with it so limited myself to the true kamikaze birds that dropped right in ..nice day all the same ...
  13. I struggled with my pals 410 , mossberg pump with moderator , it was like shooting with a scaffold pole ?, and as for getting a second shot off anywhere near target forget it , that’s if you remembered to pump the bloody thing ...luckily I’m over a different place in the week miles from anywhere so can get at them with the miroku from the off ..
  14. Up and out by 4.30 am and set up by 5 ..few early birds with the silenced 410 until 8oclock because I wasn’t to far from a couple of neighbours..all went well until the farm next door started cutting silage .. ? .you could see them dropping in on it ..managed a few more and picked up 31 with another dozen or so dropping behind me into the wood , never had the dog with me because there is a lot of electric fencing about ( game farm ) so they never got picked . Never went exactly to plan but a tidy mornings sport ...Be out again in the week with a couple of mates .
  15. Turns out having a gammy trotter was the least of his worries ....?
  16. Been over this afternoon to set the hide up save messing about in the morning , probably close on five hundred lifted out of the tree line ,farmer recons they are coming in from 4.30am ..I’ve got some lime trees at my place so I’ll clip some bushy branches of before I leave just to cable tie against the hide so it looks fresh and in keeping with the surrounding..
