  1. He was lost up at Arnside. There were reports that a farmer shot a big black dog a week or so later.
  2. I really don't know mate. They are very good eating though. It does look a bit 'sparse' in the photo's but in reality it's not. I prune back any vertical growth twice yearly and it's been working well. I'm not the biggest apple eater and my Mrs and daughter won't eat fruit or veg unless it's wrapped in plastic, so flattening the tree was more for looks BUT for the past 5 years since doing it, i've had bumper crops. And i'm eating more because they are well within reach to pick. ?
  3. Legends Of The Fall is on one of the Sky movie channels tonight. It's a decent enough film. ?
  4. Just for the record... There are still some very tight line bred stuff out of the Pye dog knocking about... ??
  5. I thought that Blackwater stuff was the Chance dog to a Tumbler or sommat like that?
  6. Get the thread back on track or i'll lock it boys... Thank you ?
  7. No mate, it wasn't aimed at you, just most young lampers in general... ?
  8. I have FD, remember them from a long way back. Think they were on the back of his fox calling vids. Bought one of his calls back then too. Still can't use the fecking thing ?
  9. Fantastic, love a veggie curry as much as any meat one now. Only a prawn one can top it..! Daughters birthday yesterday and a trip to Mowgali Street Food for tea. If there's a resteurant near anyone on here, give it a go. Fantastic Indian food... ?
  10. Just put 'shot and retrieved' on your post and it'll be fine... ?
  11. Very true that... With a dog quickly clipped onto a standard dog lead your gonna be in a slightly better place if stopped by plod. Though the real tree gimp suit with muddy Nike 270's and Blitz lamp in yer other hand can be a bit of a giveaway... ??
  12. No self respecting asian cook would use a blender. Pestel & Mortar every time...! Both garlic and ginger are much better crushed than chopped ?
  13. Old school best of British was Una... RIP
  14. A husband and wife were having dinner at a very fine restaurant when this absolutely stunning young woman comes over to their table, gives the husband a big kiss, says she'll see him later and walks away. His wife glares at him and says, "Who the hell was that?" "Oh," replies the husband, "she's my mistress." "Well, that's the last straw," says the wife. "I've had enough, I want a divorce." "I can understand that," replies her husband, "but remember, if we get a divorce it will mean no more shopping trips to Paris, no more wintering in Barbados, no more summers in Tuscany, no more Infinities a
  15. We had a school pool in senior school. Our school was built in 1965 and trying to be all modern they built a decent pool for the school just over the road. Though Anfield Comprehensive, a 1500 pupil all, boys school in inner city Liverpool in the 70's, was hardly what you'd call posh, the FB page dedicated to it is called 'I Survived Anny Comp' ? As a swimmer, we had training every morning and lunch times and i'd do that as well as my club training Monday & Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Just on top of that was training for the City of Liverpool on Saturday mornings and also
  16. Classic situation Sid, some kids fly on one to one lessons if they enjoy the teaching (and respect the teacher ?) others do well in a class enviroment. Though it really don't matter how you start any kid, the most important part is keeping it up.
  17. They still teach swimming in primary school BUT how often is both determined by budget and if the staff see it as worth while. At least it can be just for one term per year (5/6 weeks), which, though better than nothing, won't really turn none swimmers into compitent swimmers, especially for open water. Same with senior school, at my daughters school, swimming isn't on any sports curriculum, so if the kids were struggling in primary, they've got no chance there... It's a travesty for what is a life skill...
  18. There is a way of using one piece or rope/string round the neck of the dog, without a collar and using it to slip. I've seen it done and it worked brilliantly but i'd need to see it again to do it. If your not a fan of a collar on your dog when its out, this could be ideal.
  19. I've got a couole of Strong Stuff's slip leads, which i use mostly now. When i ran bull crosses i always used a good quality leather lead with an 'o' ring in the handle to shorten it. I'd double the lead, thread it up through the collar, holding the trigger clip in my hand and the middle of the lead through the collar on my finger to slip. I found it much more comfortable than nylon slips for 'stronger' dogs.
  20. I'd agree with that Al, Dee produced some cracking dogs. There is a photo of him on here, from years back. I've just spent the last hour trying to find it but couldn't...
  21. Just had it confirmed by a mate who seen and knew both sire and dam mate. In my opinion the dog must have been out of decent gear whichever his sire. What he was capable of in the field and how his line, when kept tight produced was proof of that and that's all that matters imo. Edited to add, just a ten a penny 80's 90's bull cross ?
