Giro, if you are talking about the dogs that came down off Vic, both Traveller and Obo were damn good fox dogs, as were a few out of them. Obo's owner, as did Travellers, they used the dogs for just about everything. With Obo being an excellent Terriermans dog and he was put out to open stud, as advertised in early EDRD mags. Ness bred out of him to a bull cross was a good bitch on foxes, as was the collie cross Tyson she was put to. Sadly my bitch never fancied the fox game, they just wern't for her. she'd harrass and pull 'em all night but would stay well clear of the sharp end, let 'em up a

Whin, I think the thred has been very informative on a subject that some lads have expierience with and for others a great historical read. It shows that lines can be kept with people who, like yourself, value a good animal and constantly strive to keep those qualitys alive. In a world of easy come, easy go lurchers, there is much to admire here. Yep, the summer is downtime for most, time to take stock and channel efforts elsewere but on this site this thred has really entertained. I honestly think that this cross, or amalgamation of these breeds produces some of the most honest, straight-forward, no-nonsense workers out there. Like has been said before the coming of the desert dogs and bull breeds they were very popular and for good reason. This is the type of dog that I wish was more recommended on here when folk are looking for a lurcher, rather than the crazy mixes and end of the spectrum dogs that are continually posted when someone asks. Get yourself a good one of these and a whole world of fun would be within your grasp.

OBOE'' was M.R dog from liverpool.. TRAVELER'' was J.F dog also from liverpool.. NIGGER'' also ended up in liverpool to with JMc... nigger was the father to the MICKY'' dog that was here' think JMc kept MICKYS litter brother a dog called NODGGER'' A.S from round these parts also owned a good' MINSHAW cross n i think it was called NIPPER'' but i remember M.R teling me he had a beter minshaw dog than OBOE'' at first a dog called JACK'' witch i think he got off minshaw himself... hope the info helps... .ATB..B It's still the best thred on this site and long may it continue! I disagree. The more people get to see that we've moved on from the dark ages of ferret keeping the better. The replies on this thread helps to show that most people who work their ferrets these days are as concerned about this type of thing happening as those who keep ferrets as pets and often see us as cruel and backward when it comes to our animals welfare. Well said Malt . This still goes on and if more people are informed then we can push this practice right back into the dark ages.

Have just read that about Hawthorn being a 'fairy tree', well they must be well chuffed with me because I've just given mine a short back an sides and what a nice hedge it looks too. I'd also agree, the ones I took out burn very well...

why dont you put her back to her sire save you alot a bother If nothing else is jumping out at you and provided her sire is good enough (because thats why you took your bitch on) then that would be my choice. -
Thanks for the replys lads. :thumbs: Darren, Monty Fairish... Didn't his dogs carry the blood of those so called Scarteen terriers? His dogs were hard as nails i'm lead to belive. He's someone i've heard an read about but not very much. Were both dogs out of the same stuff?
