Depends if you like a bit of nostagia mate. Written in a 'different time' and by a complete novice to lurchers, i've always loved it but it ain't for everyone.

Would that have been at the Mayfair club by any chance? Could have been Moll but it was long ago, so i'm not sure... We just traveled up to look at some tattoo's and have a night out. To be fair, he'd had a couple when we met but then again so had we! We went on to paint the town red... He didn't...!!

Dead right mate, most names just evolve. That said, I like all those old fashioned names, Bess, Ethel, Phylis, Masie, Martha, Lizzy and my next bitch's name... Beryl...! Though by the time my next one comes along, i've got a sneeking suspicion that my two year old will have a hand in it and i'lll be left stuck with Muffy-Smudge or summat...!!!

Yep... Cracking pics here by the way...

A man named Simpson once wrote a book about a Foxhound Greyhound cross, many moons ago...

When I kept ferrets I always had a brick or two in their cage to scramble over, either in the front when racing up and down, or in front of their sleeping qarters, keeps nails down a treat.

building the dogs front end up
Bosun11 replied to vduben's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
If your dogs are healthy, wormed, de-flea'd etc and they are on the best grub you can provide, then your excercise on the bike will do 'em no harm. They are becoming 'running fit' though and usually that will drop weight from the shoulders and put it where its needed on the back end. No big deal, if anything cardio fitness is a great help with their work and a narrow front and good hind quarters will help 'em below ground thats for sure. If you want to see their shoulders fill out, drop the bike work, give 'em more free mooching and walks, all that stop start, terrier bounce will shape 'em up -
Keith Moon.... (the greatest!!) Oliver Reed... (We once wrote to Jim'll Fix It, asking to go on a bender with him, got a letter back saying though Jim couldn't fix it, it was one of the best requests they've had..!!) Marilyn Monroe... (Simply just to 'see' her beauty)

If it was one of them really big wins... Ok, i'd sort myself, family, a charity or two out... But what would I buy.. Well, I once read a book, an auto-biography by David Lee Roth lead singer of Van Halen (just about THE best one (an i've read a few..) i've ever read). Now he ain't short of a bob or two but as he put it.. 'Yer, you can buy a car, five cars.. a house anywhere in the world, five houses..How much stuff do we really need.. Buy the expierience..! Go to the places you've never seen, do things you could only wish to do, fill up your life with the most interesting stuff and don't

Met him a good few years back at a show, he had his Beddys with him and I asked him about 'em. Within a flash, he pulls from his pocket a large bundle of photos of the dogs working (to ground). Mostly of his then stud dog, can't remember its name but I recall he did advertise it somewhere? The dog did seem a big 'un but the pics seemed fair enough (though I would never trust any pics as true accounts!). All in all, he seemed an ok bloke but I did think taking a load of graphic pics to a show an whipping 'em out to all an sundry a bit strange...!

Pye's mother was Maggie, a greyhound. Bullseye may have been put to Otter but Pye was too, he produced, Dee, Spike, Clyde, Ice & Custard.
-
Nope mate, he really was...! Put back to his litter sister he produced offspring that were also very good. Pye was a damn good dog that, when put to the right bitches was a damn good producer too, which, judging by the ammount of shite out there is a bit of a rarety... so i take you seen him graft alot then? what sister was he put back to? Not as much as I would have liked, before he was 'lost' at Arnside. The litter sister he was put to was Otter.

saluki greyhound or just greyhound for lurcher base
Bosun11 replied to 2.8 guy's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Once upon a time I would have said greyhound all the way but not now. Though I wouldn't say saluki cross either. What I would say is 'match dog'. Yer, saluki based but bred worker to worker for generations, dogs that kill for a living..! What I also would say is that i've seen a few dogs bred using a full breed (i.e. Labrador) and a match dog and the results have produced racier offspring than using greyhound blood, which with a heavier breed like a lab, could be the very ticket.
