  1. Spot on grub imo. I feed pretty much the same, just swap tripe for chicken carcasses. House scraps are perfect on your dogs grub. I can pick a roast chicken carcass as clean as a Bombay Shitehawk and it, along with the juices and any other leftovers goes strait to the dogs. I find it criminal that folk bin scraps before using them as dog grub...
  2. My childhood in a nutshell right there... Honda Plazzys we called em and we gave em some stick for weeks on end, if you stashed it right. The jumps would rattle the fillings out your head but them bikes were intact. Fun like I've never had before, all with a scissor and a bit of balls...
  3. Brilliant post Phil ? And the one which re-answeres the question as to why I never went for magical numbers in the 80's. In those far off days I used to knock about in a Lurcher & Terrier club who's members boasted a couple of lads who did some serious rabbit numbers... All was done 'up Scotch' and they bought cars and caravans to get em up there and carry the catch, where they could stay over and amass huge halls. They supplied their rabbits to a couple of dealers and the rest to the private zoo at Haigh Hall in Wigan. The numbers they could catch would see every one of the
  4. One of ny brothers fave films, he gushed over it and maybe that's why I just didn't take to it BUT point taken on the stark filming and long slow build up. Maybe I'll give this another bash and report back... ?
  5. And that is admirable mate. Thing is, there are 'manny' dogs in just about every breed, especially in working dogs but NONE can match the devastation of a bull blood, no matter if its a pure bred working APBT or a scatterbred XL American Bully... And it's that that makes all the difference. Once upon a time we knew what lines of APBT carried those 'manny' traits and, as they were just working dogs, it sorta didn't matter... Fast forward to now, and those lines can be within any 'pet bull' you or I could buy as a 'family dog'.... Hey, and let's not forget adding shite ownership i
  6. I honestly think that is the only way to go mate. ?? Too many were/are bowed over by these 'big, tough' doggys and strive to own one, with little or no experience....
  7. I've owned and kenneled both pure and half breds, and 99% of them have been wonderful animals to work. But there have been a few, as has been mentioned that can turn like the flick of a switch... Anything 'manny' I just won't keep, my style of kenneling and ownership just doesn't work with this type. No matter how good the dog. Dogs from 'manny' lines are specialist and need to be kept by knowing, specialist owners. I always find it sad that these dogs ended up in pet homes. What's sadder still, is that those lines are now so diluted that you'd never know it was in the dog till
  8. Maybe the wind was blowing from behind us, as I couldn't smell him And not too sure of the GF it was big and the 80's so could of been a couple I attended but deffo not northern (Lowther GT Yorks or any of the Cheshire) To be fare, that Jake Lurcher was a cracker, I killed some gear with it over the years, all over the country. My mates gave it the knickname 'Shotgun' for it's ability to catch and it ran the spectrum. Funnily enough, though fully jabbed, it died of lepto from a rat bite it took walking loose after a night's lamping... Damn shame, he was an honest dog.
  9. Has anyone been watching Vinny Jones's new FB & Youtube 'show' The Crafty Countryman? It seems his new venture is a farm he shoots over and is doing a series of films about the countryside and country matters, from his shooting point of view. Seems quite refreshing, a celeb putting himself and his passions out there. Last time I seen something like this was the late, great Jack Charlton in Jack's Game. Vinny is accompanied by a couple of lads called the Bald Builders, who have in turn a number of spinoff posts and video's and a few other countrymen. To be honest, all are com
  10. A spittoon... Best second job on this thread so far ?
  11. I look at the name Plummer with nosalgia now. His books were prized by us kids in the late 70's and early 80's. They were great reading, though we soon cottoned on to the fact that his hunting bore no resemblance to what we were up to..! Even back then, mention of his name would stir up fury in some blokes I knew. Jimmy Keeling was one, who always said that Rogues was his book and he sent it to Plummer to proof read. Another old boy I worked with, the most mild mannered bloke you could meet, who ran lurchers with John Nuttall of Clithero, would go into rage when Plummer's name was me
  12. Retrieving shot birds was the usual for me, though this dog didn't need the gun to get a gob full of feather ?
  13. Nice hedge and lawn too.. ?

Feck all to do with the jab... I'm going for the leathal cocktail of 30 years of class A's, booze and Liz Hurley grinding your nuts off... Remembering those halcyon days would be enough to give any 52 year old thats been through that a fecking heart attack... Jammy barsteward...!!
  15. Nice one Don ?, your dead right, I am overthinking it... For the past 3 years i've put my spuds in the ground but this year thought I'd do bags. Just lashed two dog food bags out too ? I'll ask the lads and get a load of em ?
  16. Right gents, gonna take a punt at growing my spuds in bags this year, only to get more variety in my veg patch. Recommendations are for 7- 10 gallon bags. Looking on eBay etc they cost a bleeding fortune, anyone know where I can buy cheap, no frills, spud bags. Wanting about 20/30...?
  17. I like that, hope it does well for him ?
  18. Fine young dog there mate. I miss mine very much and the hunting I had with them, but times change and so has my hunting and my dogs... ?
  19. I don't think so mate, mine are on a cracking diet, veg and green tripe included and still hoover it up with glee daily... ?
  20. Watched The Gentlemen the other night, typical Guy Ritchie movie. Could of been decent, but for some poor character casting and Colin Farrel and his mob dressed like total tossers.... ? 6/10
