  1. liar aaron the coursing man, 7 days off might jog your memory
  2. Still got that book in the loft Rocky o rourke used to be on tv.
  3. Also, The Boy With The Bronze Axe and White Buffalo, these I read in junior school. Round about the age of 11, I found Cider with Rosie along with The Moon's A Balloon and The Happy Hooker. Though the last two weren't school books, both I feel, really shaped my future!

  5. If your looking back at the original question then its one that can't be answered.... The only thing that 'makes a dog' is you and your trust in the tyke to see the job through each and every time it slips into the ground.
  6. Enjoyed the Shrek's too, thought Up was fantastic but my fav's are the Despicable films.
  7. Game Of Thrones was a great watch, got the triple box set of Spartacus for those boring nights when the moons full and the wind blows elsewhere.
  8. Here... Cocker's pedigree, second one down... http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/141701-seagull-daughters-grand-daughter-and-sons-and-great-grandsons-and-adughters/page-300# Toby the Hoover, Merlins sire... etc
  9. Yep, Hot Meat's on the money here, good line of coursing dog is what I'd use too. Take time to study lines, because way back in some of them, there were dogs with Bedlington blood, those lines with wooly coated dogs are the throwbacks from it. Find the right one of these (always based on graft!) and you could be on to a winner.
  10. Good going Moll, had a little wander local last night myself, nice way to see in the N.Y.
  11. There are plenty of names mentioned that I wouldn't give a flying fig for BUT let's face it, with almost everyone there is always gonna be someone who can't stick 'em. Same with lines of terriers, what one bloke thinks is quality, another thinks is shite and standards of work and so on and so on... Same old, same old...! Thing is, with Working Terriers (IMO more than any other working dog) because of the nature of their work, which is unlike any other dog work, history needs preserving. We need to keep track, we need to stay informed because in this day and age, its all on a knife edge an
  12. Yep, same as Vin's post, seen a few bloody good rabbit dogs that have never retrieved, just catch, kill and on to the next. As long as the dog don't work too far away from you, you can keep the dog on its game with the lamp and pick up all the dropped rabbits then it can be very fast and effective.
  13. no it doent count, although id like to have the capability to train a dog to work off slip for me its never going to happen so have to applaud those that mange to do so ,thinking more really about the older days, slip through a hedge put two or three in the bag and away type of thing If you have basic control of your dog when excising off a lead, then working off slip ain't hard to get right. Once you've got it sorted you'll never want to work a dog on a slip again. Once recall is mastered, the hardest part is making sure your speck, conditions and numbers are there to train your dog. If
  14. Does only having a dog tethered till it gets to your speck, then working off slip all night count? Seen a few more than two caught like that over the years!
  15. Many vets would have gone into 4 figure sums for that time and work.
  16. If you contact a pack in that area, it will most likely be theirs or, a joint boxing day meet and that poor hound got it's self lost in the break from the norm. Either way, put the word out, betcha someone is looking and as JD said, keep feeding it....
  17. In my case, these days, deffo..!!
  18. Writing that really makes no sense to me, from one angle I hear what your saying about knowing what your dog may be capable of BUT if your out enough and giving it all, your gonna get to know that anyway, no need to give any critter an advantage, nor hold a dog back... I run gear to catch it, not piss about trying to catch it! If you want it in the bag and you 'think' it could be done then never 'hold back', take any advantage... What the feck is lamping anyway, because to me its giving an advantage to your dog... Run it to catch it and if you think it could be done, on whatever distance then
  19. Fox got me in that fleshy bit between forefinger and thumb, the bit that webs when you stretch. Near shit and it was the shock of what could have been that done it. Few years later a mate got bit through his thumb nail, hard. Tough bugger he is too but he went the colour of boiled shite and fainted. That fox made a right mess, I didn't envy him that one!! Had a rat run up the back of my coat once, never bit but the feel of it's nails and both knowing what it was, what it could do and that I could only feel and not see was 100 times worse than that fox..!!
  20. Like has been said, nice type. Like that you called your lot a your 'mob' far better than when folk say my 'pack' on here...

    Panto

Panto at the Empire for us next year, our daughter will be 5 then, just right IMO. Could have gotten tickets this year but we want her to understand its all fun and slapstick and no nightmares are to be had with the funny faces and actions. I still have an early recollection of a panto at the Empire, must have been about 4 and went up on stage with Roy Hudd, had to kiss a girl under the mistletoe, I did it and when everyone clapped I looked round at the audience properly, then bottled it and ran off the stage, traumertised, past my parents, only to be grabbed by the usher, think I had nightma
