  1. I find I can concentrate on non fiction better, especially biographies and autobiographies. Any recommendations?
  2. That ones as old as the one who jacked in his job at the helium factory. " No f****r talks to me like that" he said.
  3. You've never lived till you get that big pull on the line. Just been out with the dogs and one saw a cat and pulled on the lead. My first reaction was" its a pull on the line, strike!" Give it a try mate. You'll be hooked.??
  4. Funny how guys end up with similar interests. Lots of members interested in: lurchers, terriers, fishing, shooting, cage birds, poultry, boxing, football metal detecting, snooker, darts falconry. With me, ever since I was a kid, it's been anything that moves.....starting off with beatles, butterflies and worms as a toddler and moving on to fishing ferreting etc etc. Wonder if it's in the blood or what?
  5. Wonder if metal detectorists do a bit of moonlight detecting on protected sites? I've known some lurcher boys who got lost from their permission in the middle of the night. ?????
  6. Mate o mine is very knowledgeable. Discovered many Roman coins, including some valuable rare ones. Has a super sophisticated machine. I would love to to take it up but Iv e got so many different ties I haven't the time. One coin he discovered was awarded after 25 years service in the Roman army. It entitled the bearer to a plot of land and a pension in Rome. Often wonder how it came to be lost. Did he ever get his pension and land or did he miss out because he misplaced the coin?
  7. Dont disagree with that, young vets work like hell both academically and physically. Medicine and dentistry demand the same entry qualifications as veterinary surgery, but the pay and conditions are much better.....regular hours and they don't get bitten, kicked and shat on. A young vet told me recently that she had worked twelve hours for less than the minimum wage. The problem is that the profits of the business go to the main partner and all the shitty work goes to the youngsters. It's the same old story the big boys get the profits and the workers get washers.
  8. Yup, just checked the article I was reading Loyd George sold peerages for fifty grand in 1921.??
  9. The going rate for a Boris peerage is only £50000. Contribute this amount to the tory party and it's a nailed on peerage. That's democracy for you.
  10. How Bliar and his sidekick Alistair Campbell can appear on chat shows etc pretending that they are regular, decent human beings is beyond me. They've got some bottle. A lot of Islamic attacks on the West is down to them.
  11. Fair point, but the best wee nimble dogs imo are non ped whippets. Unless you are in the racing fraternity it would be difficult to get your hands on the smaller ones as they are more valuable to the race boys. They see the bigger pups as litter wastage. Personally, I would go for one of these as the inclusion of non running dog in a lurcher can often introduce negative traits. I can't get along with collie traits for example. I hate saluki traits as well. Lurchers are definitely slower than non ped whippets. My favourite game was intercepting feeding rabbits with a running dog before t
  12. The title "working whippet" is just a way to sell pups. It would be very unusual to raise a whippet with no or poor prey drive. If I were to buy a whippet pup I would choose a non ped whippet from racing stock...... brilliant, driven, but sensible dogs.? You wouldn't be sold a lightweight pup 17 _ 25 pounds. But bigger pups up to 50 pounds are sometimes available. Dogs of this size are often very useful in the field.???. I had one of only 17 pounds and she was the best daytime rabbiting dog I have ever seen. But maybe I am biassed.?.
  13. Stop writing boring shite on THL. Broken it already.?
  14. https://www.change.org/p/mp-s-to-strip-tony-blair-of-his-knighthood
  15. There's a petition on change.org organised by the mothers of servicemen who needlessly perished in Iraq. They want the award cancelled. I've signed. He should be in jail along with a lot of others. Any awards should go to those who opposed the war, like Robin Cook who stood up in the commons and denounced the decision to enter the war
  16. Good to see the hounds. Your present bitch is much stockier than your last Charts....you can see her dam in her. Wonder what would happen if a hundred or so lurcher owners met up with their dogs running free in the middle of a town? I guarantee the police would intervene. One law for them and another for us methinks.
  17. He looks classically inbred. Very weak and feeble. His bloodline needs a bit of hybrid vigour. Cant imagine Ed leading us into battle on his magnificent steed. Think he'd struggle to hold a sword and climb onto his steed' s back without assistance. If he was in amongst a litter of working pups, he would be regarded as litter wastage. But he does have nice medals and he seems harmless compared to others in his family who are more toxic. I've ended on a positive note because its Xmas.??
  18. Those black ones look bigger. Guess their dad was a wandering pet which had escaped its cage.
  19. Always enjoyed reading his posts. Even his Sunderland and Fury posts.?. Knowledgeable about running dogs for sure.
  20. I refuse to tune in to talk about Jake Paul etc. Its nothing to do with true boxing. Even the Tyson Roy Jones fight was a farce. Fury probably is the best heavyweight around but where's the opposition? How many class fighters has he fought? Windmill Wilder was never world class. Cruiser weight Usyk is a top act, but if Fury bullies him like he did with Wilder, he will surely win. At the end of the day there will be at lest three stones between them. Joshua has been overcoached, he fights like a cautious robot. He needs to be let off his trainer's leash and re-discover the fighter wit
  21. Jesus, you would all be on the sex offenders register if that happened now.?
  22. I bet like me the experience of an all boys catholic education put you off all religion for life? They actually did me a favour because I realised it was all rubbish.. Both my kids have thanked me for not indoctrinating them with a load of old guff. There'll be no paedophile, baby selling, wicked priests or nuns at my funeral.?
  23. I remember just before I got kicked out of school I was in a classroom and one of my mates let off a real ripper during religious studies. I was laughing my head off and the teacher told me to come to the front and get the cane. Obviously I wasn't going to grass on my mate, so I yawned big guy style and told him to get on with it. When the cane hit my hand I grabbed it and wouldn't let go and grinned at him. The class was in uproar and the teacher went apeshit. He started kicking and punching me, and, just for mischief, I pretended I was going to hit him with the cane. The head and deputy he
  24. Ditto, I somehow passed my eleven plus and was sent to a Catholic posh school. I only lasted a year and I was flung out. Three of the staff later served serious time for buggery. Bunch of sick hypocritical c**ts.
