I remember him for his fights with Finnegan. Close decisions over 15 rounds. I used to kind of look up to him because he wore the same type of clobber and had the same type of hairstyle as me and my mates had. To be honest, although he fought a stupid fight against Hagler, he would have been well beaten whatever the tac tics he had used. Hagler was at a different level imo.

Still remember the scenes after he lost to Hagler. Fought a stupid fight given his opponent. That fight had a racial element to it if I remember. Some things never change. Funny to think that fight was over 40 years back.

You are right. The change has been unbelievable. I walked to my sister's house after watching a night time match at Old Trafford a year or so back. I swear I did not encounter a soul all the way back. It was all underpasses and deserted streets. I admit I felt vulnerable. When I was a kid there was always people whatever the time of day. Suppose they imprisoned them all in high rise flats.

I was born maybe two hundred yards from the dock gates and about fifty yards from The Fox pub. All my family and my wife's family worked on the docks. The Fox was basically a brothel. Seamen from all over the world would descend on The Fox looking for sex or a fight. The tables and chairs in The Fox had to be screwed to the floor-seriously. I know working class people have a kind of inverted snobbery where they try and outdo each other when talking about their poor childhoods but The Fox was officially designated the roughest pub in Europe. So there! As kids we used to follow the blood t

The lost world of Salford docks, where fathers and sons toiled among whiskey, cotton and banana boats - Manchester Evening News WWW.MANCHESTEREVENINGNEWS.CO.UK Salford Quays is now a bustling hive of media companies, restaurants and swanky apartments - it used to be very different

It's weird how the old boys held power in the pubs and in the workplace. Their opinions were sacrosanct. The "spiteful" kids also held power because of their sporadic violence. Now both groups are pretty much redundant. Big business holds the power now in the form of fast food joints, bookies and massive car parks. I often wonder about kids sense of self identity nowadays. In the old days we had 'uniforms__ Ben shermans stay press trousers brogues or boots. Kids these days seem to recycle fashions and have no distinct look.

Bitch showing the signs, but ain't coming in

Vaseline is very useful. Seriously! A brush shank held under the bitch's belly to stop her sitting down. Piece of string tied to her tail to pull it out of the way of the business end. A muzzle and a strong bloke to put her in a head lock. If you are serious about it you can usually get a mating.? -
1 The most hit upon article on yesterday's BBC news website was something about Rebekka Vardy v Collen Rooney. This is what we have become as a nation ffs. I didn't read it. The cat was not in any pain. Zouma's actions were symbolic. It was not a vicious kick. It was a deliberately softened drop kick. It looked worse because the cat couldn't get purchase on the wood floor. The slap was not intended to injure or cause pain. He was f***ing about...jesting in his own home. Lighten up. The woman who struck the horse has lost her job. She hasn't even been tried. This sort of hyster

I'm bored now. Going to watch the football. Pity Greenwood's not playing. Goodnight lads. Watch your blood pressure.Such rage is bad for your health. And dont worry about the cat, it will live to shit another day.
-
I do think he's ok. He's no monster. Take the point about the cat not learning anything. I'm not shocked or disturbed by the video. I've seen people behave infinitely worse to each other both individually and on the international stage. Amazes me folk take such a prim and proper attitude. Hypocrisy.
-
What do you do then? Plead with them to enter a trailer which will lead them to their certain death?
-
Can't be bothered with your silly false concern yes my kids and grandkids used to hoot with laughter and queue up for more. Poor devils don't know hey were horribly abused.
-
I think this is small beer. I've read guys on here gloating about Grenfell and drowning refugees. Hypocrisy is a human vice which really irritates me. Yes I have punished dogs in front of my kids. A good shake of the scruff does wonders for an errant pup. A bollocking and a shake is usually transformative. I refuse to believe Katchum has never used force when loading bullocks into a trailer etc. When shooting, fishing, and coursing animals feel fear and pain. But we accept that as a necessary evil. Hypocrisy really annoys me.As does misplaced or false outrage. Apologe

im a prick too then. Nothing in it. Yes i have punished animals that fouled the house. Im going to confession in the morning. The cat did not suffer pain. He did not boot the animal with any force. I've lifted my kids and grandkids off the floor with my foot when play fighting,....in exactly the same way as he did with the cat. I would imagine the animals that you eat: pigs, sheep, cows, chickens etc were considerably more distressed when they were slaughtered than that cat. Hysterical, hyenerish response from you lot.
-
The cat had probably shat or peed in a trainer or a bed. Looks pretty harmless reaction to me. It's not vicious or intended to cause pain. Yet again, nothing much to see hear folks. OK, ok I'm going to the docs tomorrow,I'm definitely not as sensitive as some on here. I need help.

He was a lot better than Paxman. Bamba was fun and light hearted about the quiz. Paxman ruins the atmosphere. Joyless, insulting old git.

Yes but we won the world cup. I cant chat with all night its after 9 past Haffey. Way after my bedtime. It was a year after we won. I was living in Scotland at the time. Ive never been allowed to forget it.?

My old man shopped at the same place. Used to buy boats and horse boxes and trailers and anything that was on offer. He was a real bargain hunter.?

f***ing obscene.

Yep, dockers and miners were working class royalty. Quite right too. It was hard dangerous work. As you say it's all gone now.
-
It was the same on the docks. My family and the wife's family all worked on the docks. I was literally brought up on knocked off stuff from the docks. It was worth more than wages. Docks police were given a cut. Everybody happy. One of my uncles was one of the union men who stopped the business of being hired by the day. Both my mam and dad were bitter about casual labour on the docks. You had to queue up everyday and asked to be hired for that day. Unless you licked arse you didn't get a start. But that was stopped by union struggle. Then along came the containers and fecked everything .

You weren't a coward mate. You did the right thing.? 100%.

The deer population is out of control. Major cull needed. If foot and mouth ever returns it will get into the deer population and will be impossible to eradicate.
