    You are right, the right pup reared, trained and entered right makes a very useful dog, with trainability, loyalty, tough feet and protectiveness.

    Australian cattle dog cross have better feet than many.

    Yes bird the one I mentioned in my other post was 3/4 grey 1/4 ACD he was fast,agile and as strong as a ox.Seen it take all quarry he sadly died doing what he loved,I'll try and see if he's got any pics of him he bought the dog out of exchange & mart for about £30,one of those once in a lifetime dogs I have often thought that taking the ACD cross further by adding Greyhound or Whippet would make a versatile cross even more versatile.

    I agree, my half ACD is robust and physically sound and strong. She is incredibly loyal and willing to please and does have protective instinct, yet is friendly in normal circumstances. She is half ACD and half small lurcher so lacks top end speed but has rapid early acceleration.

    Surely if they breed true to type then they are a breed and not just mongrels? Dont virtually all breeds come into being from a blend of existing dogs?

    It would be good if someone did. There was a litter on Epupz a while ago, advertised as being bred for soundness and working ability, and very much cheaper than mentioned earlier.

    I have spoken to a few people at various game fairs who say their Manchesters are keen on a bit of ratting.

    I can understand some of the frustrations with CMW but it has to appeal to a broad range of interests. If people dont rate the articles then have a go and submit some yourselves.

    Cheers mate, Have had first crosses for 17 years, did all that was asked of them, old lad in kennel is 9, the little bitch suits me, she wont be getting watered down, her drive , enthusiasm,conformation and catch rate are fine, dont suit everyone but suits me.Cheers.WR. Good for you! It is great to know what suits you and to put everything into your dog. You have a bitch to be proud of.

    No offence taken, it is good to hear other opinions. I have a similar bitch, spayed, she is great, could just do with a little more speed.

    She is ACD X GREY/Whip, is only 20-21 inch, aged 2.Cheers Put her to a good whippet dog and I could be very tempted by a bitch pup

    They are amazing dogs, incredibly loyal, tough and also can be protective. Sure, they are not for everyone, and need lots of socialising but they suit me, there is nothing else like them.

    If you like the beddy cross you would do better with a beddy greyhound cross, it gives more size and strength.
