  1. Hey Skycat keep the updates coming and keep up the work to restore a great and versatile British breed.
  2. I used to have one , easy to train in the basics, hardy and good natured. Average nose and not particularly bright, quite fast though.
  3. Great looking dog, a credit to you.
  4. no....but I know a man who does!!! he treats them like Ceskys in that they are trimmed back in winter and worked, then trimmed up for showing in the summer Can you put any pictures up? Would be good to see them looking like a proper dog.
  5. Could well be a useful dog, I have spoken to some people at game fairs who say their Manchesters are good at ratting. Finding the right sort at the right price could be a problem.
  6. My half cross cattle dog has great feet, never injured, maybe partly because since the other half was a small lurcher rather than a greyhound, she is not that fast! . Your dogs look great Mike, I didnt know a guarding instinct was strong in the Kelpie cross, it is a very useful quality handled right. My A.C.D. cross is quite protective but also friendly when it is not required.
  7. Does anyone on here know anything about the medium or German pinscher, ie their temperament, characteristics, usefulness and what they are like to train? They look like they could still be useful ratters.
  8. So does anyone know if any of these are passed on to the pups when crossed with a greyhound or whether they re occur if two GSD blooded lurchers are crossed?
  9. Yes in the right hands the Malinois cross must be awesome, I just wondered about the incidence of hip problems in German Shepherd crosses.
  10. In last weeks CMW there were some 3/8 alsation 5/8 grey pups. I think it said line bred. Just wondering, is there a greater risk of inherited problems such as hip dysplasia with these than with first crosses?
  11. Try a 16 bore, a good compromise between the 12 and the 20. I have heard it is the most popular bore on the continent.
  12. The Irish Terrier sounds a good x to a grey, the Irish have a good coat, they are leggy+fast, and hard little feckers. I wonder why they are not used more, for lurcher work.??
  13. The Australian cattle dog x greyhound is a good cross, I would like to see it taken further, say 5/8 grey x 3/8 cattle dog.
  14. Thanks for the update, keep them coming, and keep up the good work!
  15. Great looking dogs these Alaunts, what are they like temperament and training wise? What are their characteristics ? Also, what are they like with other dogs?
  16. Hi Skycat, any chance of an update on the airedale when you get chance?
  17. It takes a big person to apologise. I agree the dogs would be limited and it could be hard to find homes for them, but they would have their uses.
  18. As long as the border and the whippet are proven workers then there is no reason why the pups would not make useful ferreting and bushing dogs. Instead of just knocking someone for asking a genuine question, why not give a reasoned answer?
  19. I would have one no messing if I had room. My half ACD is 100% loyal and very willing to please. In the right hands, with time, training and lots of socialising they make great dogs.
  20. Do you have any photos of the dog?
  21. Hi, is it just me or has anyone else noticed a drastic reduction in numbers of rabbits around? Any ideas why? Or just the usual myxi in an extra bad outbreak?
  22. Thank you Tracy I will indeed Will be fascinated to hear how it turns out. All the best with the project, keep us posted.
  23. Great looking pup. Is it a first cross?
