  1. So what are these Plummers like to keep? Say with other dogs, children etc. How well do they take training? Do they tend to be a bit headstrong and hyper?
  2. Funnily enough I had met this guy at the Festival of Hunting at Peterborough 2 years ago: sound bloke. Then out of the blue he phoned me a couple of months ago and he has since got a male Bouvier as well. He was wanting to sound me out as to the potential for BouvierxGreyhound: did I think that anyone would be interested? I must admit I wasn't too full of hope for him and told him that there were that many lurchers being bred anyway he'd have to do some pretty good marketing and PR of the dog if there was going to be any interest. He did say that his bitch was a good deer tracking dog,
  3. Does anyone remember an article in the Countrymans Weekly a while ago in which a bloke said he hoped to lamp his working Bouvier? It seemed unlikely, I just wonder if anyone heard any more?
  4. My bitch is soft and friendly with visitors we welcome. Once while night fishing on a quiet beach another fisherman walked up to see how I was doing. She stood between us growling and wouldnt let him near. I dont doubt she would protect me.
  5. Great looking dogs Chalkwarren. When is the book out? I will have one, Im a fan of the cattle dog lurchers though I only have direct experience of my one, so it will be good to read more. Great thread!
  6. I imagine they can be a little heavy, the second cross should be a better prospect.
  7. CANNOT COMMENT ON KELPIES BUT I HAVE EXPERIENCE OF AUSTRALIAN CATTLE DOGS & I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY [NO TEXT TALK] WOULD BREED FROM SUCH A STOCKY & THICKSET DOG. OBVIOUSLY THE MAIN IDEA OF BREEDING FROM A PASTORAL BREED WOULD BE 4 RABBITING BUT A 1ST CROSS IN THE MAIN WOULD LACK THE SPEED OR AGILITY NEEDED.THERES IS ANOTHER POINT THAT AN AUSTRALIAN CATTLE DOG LACKS/SUPRISINGLY THEY LACK A GOOD SCENTING ABILITY/WHICH IS VITAL IN A WORKING LURCHER.DONT JUST TAKE MY WORD ON THIS.U CAN CHECK IT IN JOHN HOLMES BOOK ON A C D,s,AS HE & HIS WIFE WERE AMONGST THE 1ST IMPORTERS OF THE BREED
  8. Great looking dog, I love the pic of him retrieving the post over the gate.
  9. All the best with your pup, put lots into it and enjoy. Fielder

  10. ACD/GREY/WHIPPET, 21 Inches good little rabbiter Strong looking dog, I was wondering about the second cross, should be a great mix.
  11. I would like to see an Australian Cattle Dog Greyhound crossed back to say, a whippet or whippet Grey
  12. It sounds like the right poodles are versatile and useful working dogs, so why knock them? Is image more important than versatility?
  13. The right Malinois cross properly brought on should be awesome. Has anyone got any pictures?
  14. I hope he turns out well for you. Put everything in to him, if its a decent pup you will get out what you put in. Take no notice of the knockers, if its doing its job and it suits you then that is all that matters. All the best with him, please keep us informed. Fielder.
  15. Great looking dogs! What mix are they? I especially like the dark brindle.
  16. I dont think we have any here, I have certainly never seen or heard of any. Possibly their use here would be quite limited.

You should be proud. What are they like temperament wise, with other dogs, people etc? Are they trainable and any good as watch/house dogs as well as the working side?
  18. Thats a great looking dog! Is it a straight ACD greyhound cross? Its just unusual to have whiskers etc on such a cross.
  19. Is it a pure Manchester? If so what is it like training and temperament wise? Also is it at all yappy, either inside or out? Any pictures?
  20. Keep us informed with its progress when you get it, and put some pictures up.
  21. 3/4 grey, 1/4 Australian cattle dog, should be fast, tough, loyal and biddable.
  22. I would be interested to see a 3/4 grey, 1/4 Australian cattle dog, the half crosses have a lot going for them, the 3/4 could be awesome.
  23. So, does anyone know how they respond to basic training etc?
