    Im not so bothered by the breed as long as it does the job. Having said that, I run an Australian Cattle dog crossed with a small lurcher. All she lacks is speed, so I could be tempted by an Australian Cattle dog x greyhound. Not everyones cup of tea but would suit me.

    Hi, does anyone on here use a 16 bore? How do they compare? Are they the best of both worlds between a 12 and a 20? How do they compare weight, power and recoil wise? Also how available are they?

    Im also interested in the Australian cattle dog cross. Did anyone continue the line from the first crosses? The thing with cattle dogs is they have to be socialised more than most breeds. They can have a highly developed guarding instinct and can be protective. I run a cattle dog crossed with a small lurcher. She is very loyal, keen and willing to please, with a high prey drive. She is steady and friendly when introduced to people, but is not all over visitors. She is just too slow really, it would be better if she was half greyhound instead of half small lurcher.     Just wondering what you find best if you see a rabbit in the beam too far off. Do you keep the lamp on and stalk it or switch it off untill you are nearer where you saw it?

    Just wondering what is the best mix on average. I dont have a huge amount of work for it, and wondered if a half cross collie greyhound might get a bit frustrated, but a 3/4 cross is a bit too greyhoundy. What are the average 5/8 greyhound 3/8 collie crosses like as dogs to work lightly and be sane in the house?

    Just wondering which cross you would recommend, it will only be lightly worked on rabbits, but would be a family dog living in the house. It must be calm, loyal and fairly trainable . Thanks for your help.

    Thanks for the pic. Tell us about the HW45, I'm wondering about getting one but have not fired a pistol for ages, it had so much recoil and jump I couldnt hit a barn door!
