  1. I think Scott country have a “ try before you buy “option . If you are unsure, then I would want to see and use if first . I’ve got an ATN I’ve had it a couple of seasons now and never regretted it . Bit heavy though in comparison to the pulsar models .
  2. That’s why they say “pears are for heirs “.
  3. I went on holiday to the states In February. From the people I met they either loved trump or hated him and found him an embarrassment. But there were a lot we spoke to who would sort of whisper “ we voted for Trump , but we don’t tell anyone “. Trump will get back in .
  4. Errr , you’d be ok for gloves , it’s rings and nail varnish that might be a problem. And if you are as handsome as me you could try modelling welding masks in the screwfix catalogue.?
  5. The guy is a delusional, egomaniac, low IQ ,and too much money......... perfectly qualified for US president I’d say !!!
  6. That’s just it , I’ve not lost an orange handled knife yet . White is a good colour too . A mates got a little set made with a ball ended gutting blade and a narrow A-hole blade , with white corian handles and they show up well too .
  7. I’m very familiar with Blenhiem as I go loading there sometimes . I also know a bit about the stalking there . You are talking about a massive estate, some 30,000 acres that they shoot over . Fallow can be moved around and managed, it’s not like they have an uncooperative neighbour or the guy next door shooting them at night. It can be managed properly. In my case , pressure on fallow from neighbouring estates and public access has seen them move in , it always used to be at certain times of year and then they would move off , but we seem to have a resident herd now .
  8. I like the orange handled knife , nice shape blade and for me the perfect handle to blade ratio. I also like a very sharp point on my knives as it starts the gralloch off easily. I bet that feels perfect in your hand . ?
  9. CCI don’t do platinum BASC introduced it for heads that measure over 150 .
  10. The ground I keeper has produced some excellent heads . Since I took over we have had 2 platinum roe 1 gold roe , some silver and bronze as well as some very nice reps . Muntjac also do well here and we have had our share of medal muntys . The roe I put down to good genetics and over winter nutrition from pheasant feed . We haven’t had many fallow until the last few years and I’ve noticed a drop off in the number and quality of the roe . A year or so ago I had a cracking buck that I knew would be a really decent medal, at least silver but probably gold or platinum. I always try to ta
  11. I’ve noticed pigeon on the barley. The barley they plant here is like some of the wheat now , it has shorter stems , less straw , but doesn’t fall over as easy . I noticed the birds were feeding on the edges and on some really short patches . One of the beaters had a day on them on Thursday and only managed a few , for what was a lot of banging. They weren’t decoying very well and he said only a few came to the pattern and magnet .
  12. On the estate I work on there are perry pears and cider apple trees . In one of the sheds is the old press which up until about 15 years ago was working. The old tractor driver / estate hand Arnold who has now sadly passed on used to make some evil stuff . He got me to try some but I told him I preferred beer , “beers for queers “ he told me . Him and his old mates used to get on it and it was hilarious to sit and listen to their stories, some true no doubt, others ....debatable. But they used to only drink it from horn cups , the proper way . I don’t think it would take much to ge
  13. I think a lot of trucks are let down by the drivers ? . I used to drive a Subaru brat pickup and even though there wasn’t much wheel clearance and I had road tyres on I still used to get everywhere and leave big old 4x4s behind.
  14. Wow !!! Someone has been raiding the piggy bank. Nice bit of kit by the looks of it. ?
  15. You’ve changed your tune from the post you made on page #1 of badger cull , majestic animals was the phrase you used ! Where did you copy and paste this lot !
  16. I do a fair bit with terriers and a captive bolts are in my opinion not suitable for terrier work . A pistol is the best thing because you can reach around bends . 410 or . 22 or .32 . I use either a 410 hush power shotgun or a .22lr rifle . If I can’t point it down the hole , I wait until it pokes its head out and I get a clear shot . There is no way I would stick my hand down a hole to use a captive bolt . The only scenario I can see when they would be of use is to dispatch it in a net .
  17. They do an enhanced DBS ( disclosure and barring service) check . I don’t know how far it goes back . I’m not sure how they set the bar for what they deem is acceptable. But if someone has paid their debt to society and moved on with their life and can demonstrate that they have Changed then just like Welsh -red said , they would be a perfect example to a troubled young person that you can change things around . They would be more able to empathise with them than say a librarian .
  18. It’s something that needs changing, people can turn their lives around and turn over a new leaf . As long as there is no history of sex offences and as long as people can demonstrate that they have not been in trouble for a significant amount of time and that they are no longer going to have their door kicked in at 5.0am . Then I can’t see why they shouldn’t be parents. People with a colourful past and life experience have a lot to offer in my opinion .
  19. When a placement ( child ) moves on the house is so quiet . We both like the noise and hustle and bustle that kids bring to the home . Not everyone likes it but we do . When they leave it’s sad and there are tears , but they are moving on to permanent homes , either adoption or back to mum and dad who have sorted themselves out . It can be tough because you invest a lot into them and you know that particularly when they go back to birth parents that they may not be getting the level of care that they have got used to with you . But bloods thicker than water as they say . And kids love their pa
  20. Got a little story for you . I was doing some work with a guy I’ve known for years and we were having a natter and he asked me what I was up to these day because we hadn’t had a catch up for a while. “Oh me and the Mrs are going through the foster training and hoping to be be foster parents “, he went a bit quiet for a bit and asked me a few questions about it , then he started to tell me his story, and I could tell that he had come over a bit emotional and he wasn’t that sort of chap to let his guard down . Turns out both his parents were alcoholics and he had more meal times than meals and h
  21. A few shooters near me shoot Tac 20s . In fact I used to save my old . 223 brass for a couple of them . They swear that they are the best fox round , they have been shooting them for probably 15 years. What do you think if anything is better about a 204 . I’ve been watching some YouTube footage of the yanks killing Coyotes with them and it’s devastating.
