    Waste of time , it’s big hunting country. I’ve got to laugh , cos this fox is one of the wariest foxes I’ve come across for a while . Someone has had a go at it , and made my job harder . All it does is make it all the sweeter when I do bring it down . I’m out now , I’m armed with some co-op dog food which I’ve just scattered over the paddock. Fingers crossed ?

    Snares are out of the question as the gate is shut between two horse paddocks . The shotgun could work. But I would rather make 100% sure and get the fox to stop on some cat food . It’s something I’ve done in the past in situations like this , they wind the food and can’t help but investigate. The problem as I see it with the shotgun is the horses , I’d want to close the distance a bit to make sure I don’t just wound it . That means I’d probably have the horses right next to me sniffing and wanting a carrot or something. It’s always the same with livestock, if you try to set up next

    Good going , I haven’t been able to take numbers like that around here for a few years . I used to be able to go around on the quad and just keep shooting. If someone wanted 20 rabbits , I could go and shoot them no problem. I think if I did that now , I would wipe them out and they would be gone from the estate. I wouldn’t want to see the ground with no rabbits. I think it’s myxomatosis and VHD .

    Last weekend I was having a natter to a couple I know outside my house and gave them some eggs . The conversation turned to where I got the eggs and I explained that I shoot foxes on a farm that produces eggs . “ oh that’s interesting because my sister has a small holding and a fox has been taking her chickens and geese” . I told her to give them my number and forgot all about it . The other night I had a phone call from the sisters husband and it took me a moment to figure out who I was talking to .     Totally agree . Running along the top end of the shoot is an ancient beach wood that is part of the Cotswold way . The shoot got a bit of a grant to get traps because the poison wasn’t having an impact. Let me tell you , nearly every trap I put out was vandalised. I gave up . The beach trees are being systematically bark stripped . The damage is terrible. During the pheasant season I have tunnel traps going next to feeders and account for hundreds of squirrels. The damage they do to our native trees and bird population is frightening. If the well meaning vandals of the traps had an

    I’ve only got a handful of feeders going at the moment, but they are a magnet for squirrels. If I’ve got half an hour or so I can always sit out this time of year and knock a few over . It amazing, they are bloody stupid buggers , they walk all over their dead mates to get at the wheat as if nothing’s wrong.

    I’m waiting for a delivery this morning, so I’ve parked up near a pheasant feeder which is under some sweet chestnuts . I’ve noticed a bit of squirrel activity so I’ve got the Tikka 22lr out and am racking up the tally already.

    I think the parents probably know what has happened. It doesn’t necessarily mean that they were in some sex ring or are perverted. What I think and what the Portuguese police believe is that the child met her end in the apartment, and that the child had an accident or that the parents could have sedated her and she died because of that . The parents also realised that unless they covered it up they would probably lose their other children and their careers as doctors.     Although I don’t have any DSC qualifications , I shoot a few deer and take a few people stalking. I think if there had been courses years ago when I started out I would have benefited from attending. This is just my opinion, yes it’s probably a bit of a money making thing . But the way things are going I think it’s better for shooting to self regulate , than have stupid controls imposed on us by dumb ass politicians. Also I know plenty of guys who have attended courses as a way into the sport and said that they learned a lot .

    I am always as my Mrs puts it “ on the want for something “ . I have come to realise that I will never be in that perfect place where I have everything I want , I might have everything I need but there is always something shinier, bigger , and better than what I’ve got . I’ve just bought a new 22lr and it has satisfied my desire to spend for a week or so , but already i am looking for that next purchase, and it is a rekon tripod . ?

    I’ve completed a complaint form online. They wanted to know if I was disabled, my ethnicity, sexuality. Good grief!!!! should I have told them I’m a disabled black pre op transgender? Might actually take notice of me then .?

    I spoke to one of the guns on the shoot I keeper yesterday who happens to be a retired chief inspector . He thinks I should complain too . I’ve got the incident number of that days date , so they will know who she is .

    I watched the Police officer suffocating the black man and I probably saw it differently to the majority.     Here is an update on the cubs . Empty traps this morning. But they haven’t been moved , and are still there . I spent an hour there at dusk and saw them in the hedge with my thermal. I reckon they are getting hungry now as there was a dried up dead blackbird outside the earth yesterday , that has now been eaten . The chicken farmer ?? bailed his hay yesterday, so I went for a final look at those fields last night . To access the fields it’s a lot of walking, unless I park near a few houses in a lay-by .
