I use KG12 big bore cleaner . I put a few drops on to a brass bore brush give it a few passes and leave a few minutes then repeat before swabbing clean . Remember to wash the brush afterwards as the KG12 is corrosive . I find it a good product that removes all the fouling in the barrel .

Hand Feeding
shovel leaner replied to Roe stalker's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
Be careful . It seems that you are looking after a good few birds mate . That represents a considerable financial investment . And yet you are asking basic keepering questions . I'm not knocking you , but it's very easy to mess hand feeding up if you are not carefull . By that I mean getting the birds too tame . I knew a keeper who got the sack because his birds were kept "sharp" / "hungry" and the birds were so used to the sound of his vehicle that on shoot day the guns turned up on the drive and the birds flew out of the cover and down to the guns and started pecking around the guns feet . im with you brother !!! "Power to the yokels"!!!!!

Brian May should stick to playing the guitar , at which he is very good . But the guy lives in fluffy bunny world . Jim Barrington did a fantastic job. I can remember back in the 80s when he was running LACS and I fcuking hated him . Now I like him . He has seen common sense wildlife management and changed his opinion . What are the chances of May changing his opinion ? Slim to none , he is so filled with contempt for the hunting fraternity and so full of his own selfish ideals . I hope he keeps chickens and fox eats the lot . Wouldn't it be great if at the next Boxing Day meet May turns up in

Thats rubbish with respect...Just look at Mexicans or any good fighters that give it everthing, Froch , Pacman, etc etc They dont need to gob off and they sell big fights.. I wouldnt mind but Tyson is no character or funnyman,Its all false and put on..If you have to try to be a character then you aint one.. naseem hamed , Chris Eubank , Nigel benn . All flamboyant characters , who put on a show . Even Froch got into trash talking prior to the second Groves fight . A bit of needle and a story sell fights especially when the boxers ain't the best . Tyson is in for a good payday no doubt about

i understand that hily , it's called a live load and it's dangerous . I was suggesting transporting a full ibc on the back of a pickup instead of the quad trailer idea . If you have access to a pickup that is .

I don't know how people can really say , I don't like Tyson he's this or he's that . It's all an act , a persona . Boxing is show biz and a humble boxer who does his talking with his fists won't put as many bums on seats as a vocal personality who you either love or hate . I'm sure away from the cameras Tyson is a lot different . I wish him well and hope he wins and brings the belt home , but he will have to stop Klitchko , and I think the Ukrainian will frustrate fury and ultimately outbox him . Hope I'm wrong , but I predict a boring fight with a lot of holding and cuddling .

I have an ibc filled up in the yard . Then I've got an ibc in the back of my l200 pickup (it fits perfect ) . I've got a small petrol pump and pump the water from the yard tank into the pick up tank , then transport the water to the pen ibc and pump from the pick up to the pen . 1000 litres of clean water in no time . I'm not surprised that you had difficulty towing an ibc with a quad a full ibc is about a metric tonne .

you are right the Honda is without equal IMO but I got a new one last year and it's made in the states and I don't think it's as good as the jap made ones . The gear selectors are all thumb shift instead of the side gear stick , this means when you select reverse you have to go all down through the gears into neutral to engage reverse . The gears seem more lumpy and not as smooth as the old hydrostatic . Also there is no automatic , which is annoying because sometimes shoot helpers doing the game cart who are not used to selecting gears with there thumb inside mitts were struggling .

Thanks all for your advice , I have not ruled out the idea altogether , but I am not sure I want to have one this season . As much as I want to help the next generation , I also don't want to put anyone off either . Some of the things keepers have to do are best not shared with the inexperienced or impressionable .

The Cz 527 is a very good rifle , light accurate and sensible price . But all modern rifles are accurate but the triggers let them down the Cz I have has a set trigger and is very smooth . I have just got a 6x42 Schmitt and bender no bi pod or sound mod . I can carry it all day because it's not much heavier than my rim fire . It's nice and short so when I'm in the truck it's easy to point out of the window . Unless noise is a real issue because of houses . I wouldn't bother with a mod , because it doesn't affect the foxes one bit . I don't go for massive scopes for lamping , 6x42 is enough at

I've been contacted by the local ag college about taking on a student over the holidays to give him or her experience of game keeping . What are the pitfalls , if any . What about insurance ? That type of thing . It would be nice to help out , but my experience of youngsters is that by the time you have shown them what to do , it would have been quicker to do it yourself . I'm single handed and as busy as hell . To be honest I could do without it. But I also feel that I should help someone along. What sort of jobs do you give them . I don't want to just get them cleaning drinkers . But I can't

Watched a couple of games . And to be honest it was what you would expect . Pretty dull . Then I came up with an idea how they could make it more watchable .....get the girls to play in skimpy outfits , a bit like beach volley ball , which I am a big fan of , nudge nudge , wink wink eh boys . Then I had a good look at the girls and could only see two or three that should don the beach volley ball gear . So I switched off .

Even though I agree with UKIP and would love to see them do well , I just can't help but think it is a wasted vote . So I voted conservative . Labour have proved that they can't be trusted with the economy and will just spend money we don't have . I really think if millipede gets in we're f--ked !

Sounds like it was a badly supervised site with a bunch of mugs who don't know how to behave . I can honestly say that if I witnessed a prat intimidating a young girl I would have a word with him , and so would most of the guys I have worked with .
-
I've worked on sites for years and think the builders were out of order . Probably young lads or labourers . To hassle a girl on her own is wrong and a mature man on site would have had a word with the morons . It's a bit different if it's a group of women because of safety in numbers and a whistle or joke is usually met with a bit of banter . Nobody should be made to feel uncomfortable going about their daily business .

if only to stop the twat singing , that was embarrassing !

I think Klitchko will out box Fury . I think Hughie Fury is a good prospect for the future though .

Redshank Control Products
shovel leaner replied to bowderdale's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
There are loads of selective weed killers out there . Best advise is speak to an agronomist . I also use Samson and Calisto at .5 ltr per hectare Samson + 0.75 ltr per hectare Calisto for fat hen +grass and thistle or for just thistle I use shield 400 at 0.15 ltr per hectare . This is for use in maize . -
Redshank Control Products

I too have had problems with red shank . I clean the seed bed with Glysophate (roundup) . Then when the maize has been drilled and starting to compete and be choked I use Calaris at 1 ltr per Hectare .
