    I'm a big fan of the 223 , I've got two one with a day scope and one with Night vision . If you have like you say done your research , and you believe that the 222 is the round for you , then fair enough, ignore the rude tosser in the gun shop . You will still find a good choice of new and used 222 around , try Guntrader.com . The 223 is a more popular round and therefore you will find more choice in both guns and ammo . In reality there isn't a lot in it between the two and I know plenty who love the 222 . Where I would spend money would be on the glass , get as good a scope as you can afford

    I was thinking of the famous people I've met , and although I've seen varicose famous people in the flesh , I've not actually "met them or conversed with them .Then I remembered !!!     I also felt exactly the same , but it's the principle of it , also it's not much hassle. Just stop paying it . When you get a letter asking why you've stopped paying, Tell them you are a Christian and you believe that TV is satanic. It's all on you tube what you've got to say , and what not to say . I've got to say though it does go against the grain a bit , because I've always tried to be law abiding and pay my bills . Whether I go through with it or not , will largely depend on her indoors though . The way I feel today "rebellious and anarchic ", might change later when I've calmed down .

    Assuming you still pay your license fee , then it's your money they are paying these tossers . In a free market where there is competition and a company wants to pay you x amount because you are good at your job , fair enough , I'm all for people who work hard getting on , but it's public money which if you own a television , which most people do then you have to pay it , or face ultimately prison !     Got to agree with all the posts on this , it's absolutely disgusting and totally wrong to pay people that much . If you go on you tube it tells you how to avoid paying this rip off licence fee .     Walnuts have now been removed from the brine , rinsed and put out on trays to dry off outside . You can see they go black . I've put them into jars and have made a spiced vinegar, it's got peppercorns, ginger , allspice , cinnamon, sugar , a few cloves . Simmered for a while left to cool then poured into the jars ...job done . Should be good in a couple of months .

    As a regular reader of the shooting times years ago , I always enjoyed the contributions of the late John Humphreys , his wife Angela also did game recipes, I saved this one . A bit of faffing about, but the results are worth it ...enjoy !

    I've got 300 for 223 , 150 for 243 and 250 for my 22lr. In reality I don't buy that many centerfiire bullets . I recently bought 3 boxes of 223 bullets, 20 in a box it came to £77.50 . If I bought my full limit it would cost over £400 , and then sit in a ammo safe . I tend to buy two or three boxes at a time and when I am running low go and buy a couple more , unless you are shooting at targets a lot I wouldn't worry too much about being allowed to hold a lot of ammo .

    Cheers pal , I'm not really into shooting deer that much , I get more pleasure taking someone out for a stalk who is really keen . I've got a mate / client who has been after a medal munty for a while . I know my patch holds good heads but it's a total lottery if I can get him on one . With the roe it's no problem in the rut . But the muntjac here don't seem to stick to one spot very long and are very secretive . There is a lot of dense woodland and you've just got to sit it out on a ride .I sent him this picture to piss him off.

    You talk about the older generation and we look back on it with rose tinted glasses, no divorce and all that , but the reality was a lot of miserable family's . I can only speak from my own experience. My parents never got divorced, but I can tell you that when I used to hear the front door go after he got back from the pub I knew it would kick off .     if you know where to get them , pick one , get a needle and push it in . If you feel resistance then it probably means the shell is forming . But if it goes in easily then you will be ok , try the test on a few places on the walnut and try a couple , just to be sure .
