I love where I am in Gloucestershire. Beautiful countryside, great shooting/ hunting and fishing opportunities. All the royals can’t be wrong Charley and Ann just down the road . But I also love Cornwall , the Lakes , Brecon Beacons. Also the people in Bolton / Westhaughton where I’ve got family are the friendliest in the world . Basically Great Britain has got the lot . We are all lucky in one way or another.?

That’s what it looks like to me too . You’d have to be a right “plum “ to think it’s an alien space ship !!?I’ve read some of the guys ramblings , and he is obviously mentally ill . I find it quite sad ,

Try Baycox , just go to your vet and ask for it . 1L costs about £85 . I always treat my birds at times of stress , like when bitting , as this can bring on cocci . Try looking into the PH of your birds drinking water . The poultry industry is light years ahead of the game industry with regard to this . Have a read up on it . Went to an NGO meeting and there was a vet from St David’s game bird vets giving a talk on the subject. Too much to write on it in this reply . ATB

I’m going to shut up , I’m not far myself, plus I married one . They didn’t like me taking one of their women . My brother in laws are proper “back woods” types . I will say this for them , they have got some first class rugby clubs . Lydney , Cinderford, coleford , Berry hill . But it is just like a scene from Deliverance, with the old banjo player.

That is awesome !! I’ve never seen a mink and dog hunting as a team . Thanks for sharing your footage . It’s great to see something different . -
I’m sure there must be more to it than taking the kid off her over an ice cream and a haircut ? Why was the mother even on the social services radar ? We fostered a boy from birth till he was seven months . His parents had to prove they were drug free to have him back . They did this and he went back to them . We kept in contact and saw him regularly . After a while they stopped contact . We were worried and found out they were back on the gear . We told a social worker about our concerns . But the reply was “if we removed children from everyone who does some drugs , half the country would be

This is the blame culture. It wasn’t the fact that baby Ps reprobate mother and her boyfriend beat the kid to death. No it was the fault of the social workers and the Haringey Council for not taking them off them sooner . But I agree that they paid her a ridiculous amount of money.
-
The money the council spends on social services is astronomical. We should do what they do in some states in America and that is pay these junky alcoholic mums to get sterilised . If they paid them £5000 , that seems a lot but if you think what they are paying in social services and foster care it wouldn’t take long to be cost effective.

Social workers get a bad press , don’t they ? Me and the wife have fostered for about 5 years now and deal with them often . They are dammed if they do and dammed if they don’t . Most spend long periods off work suffering from stress and there is a lot of unhappiness in the job . There is a high turnover of staff and a shortage of staff in general with a lot wanting to leave the job .There is a bit of a “right on” hippy sort that do the job , but a lot are genuine people trying to sort out the cess pit of society. Most kids that come to us come from a background of drink , drugs , domestic vio

Just thought I’d relate an experience from the other night . I’ve been using my thermal spotter and digisight to good effect recently, but it is normally from a vehicle. I had a call from a farmer earlier in the week and a fox had been killing poultry . I couldn’t drive on this unit so I got positioned by the buildings and lay in wait . The hatches on the unit shut at 10.30 and a little while after a fox came out and I shot it . I waited a bit longer but nothing else showed , so I went to pick it up just using my thermal spotter to locate it “no lamp or torch with me “. The farmer also keeps c

Just reading this post , and I agree . It is a special buzz . I was taught by my grandad . He was an old Worcester poacher . He spent a lot of time with Romanys , hop picking and itinerant working . He made a living catching rabbits during the war . He used to tell me stories of sets he made picking up unimaginable hoards of rabbits . I wasn’t so lucky , I went out in the late 70s early 80s and if you came home with 10 it was a good night . We made our own nets , 100 yarders with steel round eyed pins . We cut hazel pegs , the length was from your armpit to the tips of your finger . We got old

I usually have 3 or 4 trips out ratting a year around a couple of local pheasant shoots at the end of the season . There will be all types of dog there . Gun dogs , lurchers , terriers , collies , mastiffs , mongrels . One thing they must all do is get along . Sometimes when the action slows down , some of the bull crosses and paterdales have started on other dogs and have to be put away . All the dogs have their own style of ratting , and seem to bring their unique talent . I have a Russel dog who never takes his nose out of the holes and is a brilliant “marker”. The lurches will not miss ma

For an estate they have done a great job at Mercedes, I’ve got a bit of car envy?

A cracking few days north....

When I look at that , all I see is weekends grass cutting ? -
If money is not an issue it’s got to be a Mercedes c class. Audi or BMW ? There are pros and cons for both , you really can’t say one is better than the other . It all boils down to which one you like the look of , I personally think the BMW is better looking in an estate . There is a good reason Mercs are more expensive . The build quality and handling and performance beat the competition.

My wife has a BMW 320 tourer . For a diesel it is quick . Plenty of torque . Not much boot space though . If it’s boot space you want consider a Passat .

Fox middens
shovel leaner replied to fumbles's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
Sorry if I sounded a bit flippant but the reason you wont be having much success in the summer is anything you put out will be fly blown and rotten in no time and will just turn it into a putrid smelling no go area . -

I would suggest that you download a copy of one of the codes of best practice for snaring from a body such as BASC or DEFRA . Read and inwardly digest their contents . -
That’s not keepering that’s criminal . They risk getting caught and losing their jobs and probably their homes . I hope they get caught. Muppets!
