So it’s fine for the railways to interfere with a badger sett , but anyone else gets 6 months. Double standards ?

Brian Glover as the sports teacher was spot on . We had a Mr “Taff Jones , who was just like him ?

I’ll never forget the two lesbians, ms Hugh’s and Ms Comber . We all suspected that they were an item . Then after school one day , and much to the delight of the onlooking pupils we witnessed them fighting in the car park . Proper going at it they were , hair pulling , scratching , and best of all swearing!!! After that every time you were in class with one , someone would cough and mutter Lezzie ? then the sniggering would start .

Thank you for sharing that . Don’t mind telling you I’ve got a tear in my eye . All the best to you and your family .

Ever thought of a sauer 100 ? Not bad for the money, they are doing a package with a meopta sight mounts mod for a very competitive price . You are getting sauer quality at a reasonable price . -
Well done , I’ve just released some of our poults last week. Now is the time to be on your game . With this hot weather the poults I released have taken a long time to start roosting, a lot are still just sat in the grass by the wire . In the past foxes have run up and down the fence line spooking the birds so that they fly over the fence . This is when cubs in particular will do a lot of killing. My method of dealing with this is to to park my truck near the pen , angled so that I can shoot off the bonnet. I recline the seat , get a pillow and quilt and wind the windows down and go to sleep .

My wife had it harder than I did when she was young . Poor family , no money . Her mum had to get her clothes from jumble sales and hand me downs . She says she remembers the feeling of shame and embarrassment because her jumper had holes in it and her socks were loose and fell down . So she has this thing about our kids having the best clothes, best trainers best of everything. I can’t blame her . We all want our kids to have what we didn’t . And the thing is people can do it now , there is more money about . But kids will still love you if you say “no” once in a while . In my opinion, “no yo

I’ll give you £75 for it ?

I’ve seen and used the ATN Mars thermal scope and I’ve got an ATN thermal spotter. They are very good I’ve also seen and used Pulsar . The best advice is to try before you buy . I know some dealers will do this . I bought my spotter secondhand off a guy who didn’t use it much and needed the money. I can tell you that Pulsar are well advertised and seem to be dominating the market . ATN aren’t talked about as much , but I can tell you that the ones I’ve seen perform very well . I can spot and identify at 500 - 700 meters. I can see rabbits in detail at 200 meters . It does everything I want . Y

Cheers pal , I normally shoot from a vehicle. Not going to make that mistake again . I’m not the only one it’s happened to either. A keeper on a neighboring shoot had a similar problem walking in a field trying to close the distance on a fox he had seen from his back door . He was charged and surrounded. Same thing ....no torch . I can see that if thermal users go amongst cattle at night then sooner or later someone will get injured.

I’m from a different generation obviously. My parents didn’t pick me up or drop me off anywhere. I made my own way there or my own way home . I had F all growing up . What it taught me was independence. I have kids and did a fair bit of running around , but we balanced it out so that they had to earn the lifts and drop offs by doing jobs . There is nothing for nothing in this world and it won’t do the kids any harm to learn that . We are producing a generation of feckless, spoilt kids who expect to have fantastic lives , doing fantastic things day in day out .

Took the dogs for a walk by a canal with the Mrs a while back and she’s a talkative sort . We started having a natter with a fisherman. The dogs were on leads but messing about . He said be careful that pole cost over £5000 , her jaw dropped open , he explained that you could pay a lot more for some poles . I looked at her with a smirk and my eyebrows raised and said “ think yourself bloody lucky I’m into shooting not fishing “. That little meeting has been great , because not long after I bought my thermal spotter and as you can imagine I reminded her how lucky she was that I had such a comp -
ub Well done , something satisfying about shooting a fox with a shotgun . I used to attend a few fox drives years ago . Eley Hymax BB’s were as good as anything I thought . Still have a box .

Bigger they come ..... the harder they fall ?

Hard to disagree with that . Trouble is assholes like that are the first to go crying to the old Bill . And firearms and shotgun users loose their licenses. I can honestly say it is the thought of losing my ticket that has stopped me doing a lot of things . Sometimes sneaking about is all you can do . I know it made me feel a bit better . Not as much as walking over and giving the guy the slap he needed but it’s better than nothing.

That’ll learn I’m . Coming in the country with their big city ways and their fancy book lernin !!! F@ck em all !!

Just reading a thread about a rotten rabbit found in a bag of nets . Well it got me thinking of another stinking incident. A couple of years ago some “townies” moved neat to the shoot . Not a problem . But in September we have a couple of “cubbing meets” for our local pack . The hounds were “hunting a trail “ in a wood next to their house , that’s when the verbal started , and he made it known what he thought of hunting and us . Then , later when we started shooting he would start shouting and name calling and generally being a dick . They say that revenge is a dish best served cold . Well e

Years ago a pal used to go ferreting on a Sunday morning and then into the pub for 12.00 . Well a ferret got out of its “sack” and dragged a rabbit behind the dashboard. Well you can imagine . He couldn’t work out where the stench was coming from . Took months to clean up ?

Thinking of stopping trapping magpies, and putting the Larson traps away for another year . Glad I didn’t do it sooner. Found this adult dog fox in this trap this morning. He wasn’t very happy to see me . I’ve been seeing a fox in this area but never when I’ve been shooting , so I was very pleased to see him ! I’ve had cubs in Larson traps before, but never an adult. Result!!

I’ve seen a couple this week in the afternoon. They were both rooting around , scratching and feeding on something, there is a stream near the sett they came from so I don’t think it’s thirst . I believe that because of the heat worms are deep and snails tucked away . There are a few June bugs (chafer beetles) about and I think they were probably after them . This one was so engrossed with grubbing about I was able to walk fairly close to it , not the best photo but he was running away .

I bought a Russel bitch off a very well known and respected terrier man . Who was in Yorkshire at the time . He didn’t need to advertise this litter and I felt lucky to get a pup off him . He charged me £200 and I would have gladly paid more . When you consider that he wasn’t a mate , but someone who was a friend of a friend , he owed me nothing! It came docked and jabbed , and had been well socialised. That money was nothing for a dog of that quality . The bitch had turned out to be an excellent worker . I’ve got no complaints paying for her . I’m planning on having a litter with her and when

I use a 223 and use 50 grain sako game heads . I have found that they perform well enough for me . It always amazes me how far a fox will run with a hole in its rib cage you could put your fist in ! I think it’s just Adrenalin . I’ve got this theory that the game heads are a bit more forgiving if there is a bit of grass or stalk in the way , as apposed to a ballistic tip . I don’t push range too much and rarely shoot anything further than 200 meters . I’m kind of old fashioned in that once I’ve found something that works , I leave it alone .

After I wrote this I googled the pub and joys green to see if it’s still there . It’s shut now , but I found out that a film was made about Monty , I don’t know how to post it on here it’s on you tube, it’s called “Monty “ a film by Derek Jones 1981 . It’s quite sad to watch the hapless Monty being teased by the local kids . But it will give anyone interested a real insight into the people of the Forest of Dean .

There really are people just like that in the forest . I was in a pub called the masons arms or known locally as the bush in joys green , upper lydbrook area , and a guy walked in wearing a brown drovers coat ( no shirt) he had a cap on his head that was 10 sizes too small , and he had the legs on his trousers held up with bailing twine (wurzel gummage style ) hob nail boots . And no eye brows and a bright red face . I said to my mate who was a local , “he looks a bit strange old butt “ , he told me “ah that’s Monty , he was cold and he had no wood to burn so he took a door off , poured petrol
