  1. I knew it . I’ve got a really fantastic investment opportunity !!! All you have to do is PM me your bank details . I will need you to set up a wire transfer of monies to my account in Zimbabwe this is to pay off the corrupt port officials then you can get your share of all these millions I’ve got . Stuck in a shipping container .
  2. I would recommend a thermal spotter, and night vision scope . I would also say that you get what you pay for . The cheaper entry level gear doesn’t perform like the more expensive items . I know guys who use those add on screens and swear by them , you can buy them fairly cheaply. Also a digital spotter shouldn’t set you back too much . But I always say “if you buy cheap you buy twice “ . Have a look at what thermal imaging is capable of before you buy something you may wish to replace before too long . I like you was a lamp man and thought all this new gear was a gimmick. I was wrong, I would
  3. The Mulberries have been ready for a while now . For me they are the most delicious of fruit with s unique taste . I’m sure that if it were not for the fact that when they are ripe they are so soft that they squash and mush when you pick them , they would be in the shops . I’m lucky there is one where I work . Trouble is they attract wasps , and I’m allergic to them ( have to carry an epi pen ) . So I’m getting the Mrs to pick them while I hold the step ladder and get ready to run like a big girl at the first sight of a wasp . Who said chivalry was dead ?
  4. I think for me , loss of liberty would be a terrible punishment. Also being locked up with the witless and the unlucky . The prisons I would guess are populated to a large degree by people with drink / drug problems, learning difficulties. Or just idiots who don’t think the law applies to them . But we have all I’m sure done things that in retrospect were stupid and could have potentially landed us with a stretch at her majesty’s . I watched a program not too long ago about a guy being hit outside a nightclub and died . I know I had a few tear ups when I was young and could have easily ended u
  5. It’s the situation in the film that I can relate to I guess , I’ve got kids (daughters) and wanted them to be into the countryside and my way of life , took them fishing and beating , ferreting , they had ponies , everything to encourage them . The two eldest girls got the idea and are country girls .... but my youngest was just like the kid in the film ..... this is boring !!! She has grown up a bit now and has.tattoos piercings Botox .... I despair with that girl .
  6. Not been out for a while cos of the moon really and also I haven’t had any problems around the pens , as soon as they cut the wheat I will be nocturnal again . The Mrs will be moaning cos I’m always yawning and nodding off after tea . But I enjoy it , best part of the job as far as I’m concerned . It’s a challenge, you get out of the job what you put in , and now is the time to put in the hard yards , keep the shoot as vermin free as you can . Soon be winter and early nights in front of the box .
  7. The shoot I keeper is 1500 acres and I’m up to 38 since January 1st but that isn’t just shooting, that’s Terriers , snares and trapped cubs . There is the wheat to come off yet so I expect to be well past 40 in a few days . Seeing nothing around the pens now and the birds are nice and settled and out and about now . Amazing the difference to the birds if they aren’t being bothered by Charlie, makes them so much easier to keep ......I’m touching wood now lol . That thermal is the business, if they are there you will see them , and even if you don’t get a shot at them it gives you information on
  8. I’m seeing deer and have seen the odd buck chasing a doe , but not what I would call a proper rutt yet . Not seen a buck just sat about knackered yet . It’s a strange year . Would you say the rutt has started by you ?
  9. Nice write up Jarvis and bloody good shooting . My poults have been to wood since the beginning of July and I’ve been busy on the foxes . They could have done some damage so a job well done . That drone is some bit of kit .
  10. Thankfully our prisons are just like an episode of “porridge “. Can’t imagine Mr Mckie or Mr Barraclough giving Fletch and Godber a kicking .
  11. Check out “The foot fist way” if you like Danny McBride. It a comedy about a hapless Karate instructor. ???
  12. That’s the one , Josh Brolin and Danny Mc Bride
  13. Watched this on Netflix last night. I don’t know how to put a trailer up , but I thought it was a funny film which anyone who has watched American hunting films will find hilarious. I can recommend this film if you like a laugh ?
  14. It’s here at last , a decent drop of rain . Probably too late for one of my maize covers . The fallow and roe and badgers have flattened it , not a lot else to eat I suppose. Thinking of spraying off and sowing some mustard or stubble turnip or fodder radish . Still got a bit of time .
  15. best advice , give any information ie reg numbers and let the police deal with it .
  16. I asked the same question on here for my n970 and was told to get a T20ir and never regretted it makes the picture clear and I can take stuff out to about 200 meters maybe a bit more but a comfortable 200 .Hope this helps bud .
  17. I carry a 22lr on my rounds in the morning . It’s great for dispatching foxes in a snare . If I see Charlie I will also take a pop at him with my 22lr . I would rather use a centerfire , but needs must . I have hit foxes at 100 yards plus . But a sub sonic is dropping rapidly at this range . I practice constantly , on magpies and squirrels and rabbits and am pretty good at judging the amount of hold-over . But even so you are guessing . A 40 grain 22lr does pack a punch but I think best advice is keep the range to about 60 yards on foxes then you can really get good bullet placement , because
  18. As a Keeper I receive a tip at the end of the day’s shooting. A handshake between yourself and the gun with the money folded up and exchanged almost secretively and put straight into your pocket without looking at what you receive . I just can’t imagine standing there with a chip and pin reader , or handing over my bank details so they can do a balance transfer. No , cash is king .
  19. My motivation to reload is purely a financial one . I will probably just make a round that suits and that will be it ....I hope ?
  20. I know what you mean , if I knock my night vision scope I check it with a couple of shots . If it’s out it can take a few to get it back . I probably use more ammunition messing about zeroing that actually shooting foxes . Having said that , I was on a good run for a bit and went for a while without having to zero . I’ve got a mate who makes rifles and reloads . He said he can get me all the kit for reloading at trade price . I said I like the Sako ammunition I’m using 50grain game heads , and I don’t want to get into cooking up different loads . He said if your rifle likes the 50grain Game he
  21. I have stuck with Sako 50 grain ,I found it shoots tight groups through my Brno and my Tikka . However at £26 a box I’m thinking of starting reloading .
  22. I smoke those things , but I’m like Bill Clinton on the weed , I don’t inhale ?
  23. My Mrs walks mine / ours . There is a brook behind our house so they have a splash about and stay cool . If we didn’t have that , we wouldn’t bother cos it’s too hot at the moment.
  24. Nice one ! Comforting to see that I’m not the only one to miss the odd fox . I think you might be starting a new trend with the jammy bottoms , could put realtree out of business ?
  25. Watched Mark Ripley on his YouTube Rips 260 show using that spray . Seems to get them to show a bit of interest . Don’t know if I’d bother though . Having said that I never thought I’d buy thermal / night vision / icotec fox caller / quiver critter . Sod it I’ll order it now .?
