  1. yh he follows the other dog in the water and has a play but again the other dog will only stay in the shallows i cant exactly go and say alfie go and jump into that deep bit of water over there and heel do it lolOh right OK..,how did you learn it to jump?get a big catapult or a huge cannon? I personally just chuck em,over razor wire, they soon learn
  2. Gaz you throw them in if they swim you burn them at the stake ,you should know that
  3. Throw something in the shallows and build it up...Get in with him if you have to and make it fun,but throwing him in generally won't help. Patience is a virtue.
  4. No wonder he hates water if you're throwing him in lol, get him in the shallows he may take to it on his own a bit better. Good going by the way ,just takes it easy he's still a baby and it's still warm ,I'd hate to see a promising dog spoiled best of luck with the coming season
  5. also interested how they've come in Chris
  6. What amazes me with these type crosses ,is we breed 2 completely different types for 100s if not thousands of years, To a pure form ,specialized at their particular jobs, and then one cross ,they look like the pariah type dogs from Asia and Africa, and maybe a dingo. Shows how close dogs are to their ancestors really
  7. 1st pic is a cracker well done for capturing it. Which leads to the question ....who was the best swimmer
  8. Wish I could have found someone to take you up on them mate ,but you'd already treated me to cheap tickets ,shame to waste them
  9. I wouldn't discount a bit of other blood in there too, take advantage of someone else's breeding to the full, maybe one that's been line bred for a few generations and doing what you want and more ,and that would be able to absorb the greyhound blood ,without becoming too "sighthoundy" if that makes sense.
  10. Coming on well training seems to be going the right way,and looks as though the pup wants to please you ....good going dodger
  11. For ferreting...probably a not too highly strung ,steady ,and trainable lurcher or maybe a gundog of some description?
  12. I'd be looking at the studs ability before the colour or coat type. We all like a certain type of lurcher but they need to do a job. Look at as many studs as possible and see,if possible how they work ,and whether it ties in with what you want to add to your bitch.
  13. Phil you are right ,that it fills lads with hopes in a way that exactly how I feel ,I'm always the type to err on the side of caution but it's a feeling we have all felt
  14. Here's mine , there was only 2 bitches survive, out of my old bitch to her nephew / 1/2 brother /cousin or something like that Pictures taken at 5 weeks ,now 8 weeks
  15. The crafty wolf was playing dead, you see many foxes do it ,inexperienced dogs can lay off ,and fox makes his escape . I suppose they don't give a shit for a wolf that takes their livestock and I don't think they have sporting ethics in the same way we do.
  16. He certainly won't forget his 3rd then mate , Atb with him
  17. I know, was just making a point in general really. After morton's negative post . I think the pair of those pups have probably turned out pretty decent, especially the bitch, but I will agree with morton about her left hind foot, it did look a bit flat lol, might've been just the way she was stood though. Pics are not the best resource of checking something out properly lol would be nice to hear how they came on now and how they look,as young dogs never do a cross any credit
  18. Nice start ,how old is the lurcher Peter? And is it the first of the season,or it's first
  19. They were probably was the number one cross because of certain "writers" telling exaggerated stories about their capabilities. So maybe better questioning the intelligence of the collie cross buyers in the 80's and 90's than bull cross owners since. They are less common because less people want them ,despite the efforts of one of the above writers. There's always been Rose tinted specs and "credulence" it goes hand in hand . There's always been talks of big bags ,rough dogs bad practices, shameful puppy peddling and braggarts. None of which is new. Just the new generation can tell the worl
  20. My reply was tongue in cheek as they'd be about 6 year old now
