  1. Crackin pic that Like butter wouldn't melt
  2. I think for any lamp to be "the best" Everyone would have to want the same thing from a lamp so you may find one better than one I would prefer . Don't think one lamp would suit every man
  3. I bred my bitch at 8 y.o. Wish I'd have done it earlier. It gives you a chance to do another mating ,and the possibility of in breeding, Or putting right if it didn't reach expectations.
  4. The old dog was looking as if to say "phff you have a long way to go kid"
  5. As have many others. The main reason the Bull bred lurcher receives the amount of flack it does is because of the feckwits and nuggets that own them, use them as a status symbol, hunt in a manner the majority find utterly repulsive, breed out of dross throwing names about like confetti and slabber on like a second rate fisherman and his catch.Ive seen my share of very useful bull bred lurchers, lurchers whose owners have little in common with, with many that own the breed. The minority of feckwit bull x owners are responsible for the majority of dross bred, finding a decent un is a task in itself, yet
  6. The mother to my old bitch, would certainly catch without bouncing off a fence The sire to mine was no slouch as a 1/2 cross
  7. This could go on and on lol. I don't mean the 'odd collie x' doing a bull x's job, I never said that. And there certainly WON'T be a bull/grey catching hares or most deer in this country that hasen't rebounded off a fence etc, even on the lamp. Seen plenty of collie crosses, I/2 X, but mostly 3/4 breds taking fox very regularly, as well as other quarry, and on the same night. But I do agree with you to a certain point, there obviously are some racily built 1/2 bull x's about, but they still aren't going to be fast enough to catch as much as most other types, especially some of the heavier ty
  8. That's the point I'm making roybo. They are never going to be a general allrounder type, but when you get, and you do, people saying 'my bull x catches r h f d, pre ban, well, was it actually a proper bull x? I don't think so.And as for thumbs up or likes, I really couldn't give a flying f**k who likes or dislikes what I have to say about bull crosses, honestly. And I've seen ALOT more than the odd collie cross taking foxes, very regularly, and taking rabbits and hares on the same night, and deer, which a bull x wouldn't have the speed to get up to, which didn't bounce back off a fence into th
  9. As you say you will know the "odd" collie that will do a bull crosses job and there IS bull crosses that can catch all the game you said ,maybe with the exception of hares regularly.although on the lamp anything is possible, and regards to the speed there are bull crosses that are racy and quick enough to catch most ,they don't have to be heavy. For the record my older bitch has caught all you said and there is only bull and greyhound in her history ,does that mean she's not a "proper" bull cross
  10. Thing is ,the reason you would keep a bull cross isn't for "all round" lurcher work. What ever that means is different to different lads. But for what they are bred for MOST other crosses would not stand a chance ,yes we have all seen the odd collie cross or what ever do this or do that but they are the exception rather than the rule . So those who want that type ,will continue to have their bull crosses regardless of whether they get a thumbs up off a few lads that dislike them on here
  11. If I'm honest I'd have no clue the mother was a 3/8 bull the father was a 7/16 to a 3/8 or something along those lines somewhere between 1/2 cross and 3/8 lol 4 week old
  12. Which lamp is this D Lloyd which roybo talks about above? Gaz you aren't a million miles away from me ,I have a couple of dais lamps here,if you are ever passing drop in have a look and give an honest account
  13. I've never liked the big lamps , The 240 and blitz etc I find them cumbersome. The 150 is great for bunny bashing ,there's a lamp d.Lloyd has that's about the size of a 170 and throws similar distance to a blitz ,not sure of the name . But as said earlier try a few because everyone wants different things from a lamp.
  14. Was it a bull cross bitch he went over to produce morphie?
  15. Wish mine would take to the water ,especially this time of year ,cracking video !
  16. Never had swelling off thistles really ,and you don't know 100% if it is But the swelling may become a limp as the day wears on so give it a good soaking in the ice water . If she gets any worse try some metacam from the vets could have a bit of a strain.
  17. They all gone now ,lurcherlad? Nice litter there mate good luck
  18. Excellent post ,and I know it's true as I have a dog here that I've made all those mistakes with, which is easy to do with a pup you bred ,in a family home. He's also a picky eater, all in all a c**t of a dog really
