  1. Been asked to use the dog (on right) on a v useful bitch, fingers crossed it happens as first litter from him and my bitch has been good so far.
  2. something i have no experience in whatsoever, but maybe theyre good at working cover where there are dangerous animals lurking. coyote, wild boar, big cats etc def more powerful and robust than a less bully terrier. just not for the UK imo. Exactly if Europeans can use teckels ,fox terriers and patterdales, it can be done, when the settlers went over to America they had to hunt lion and bear with the little feist dogs and hounds. In the case of flushing a dangerous animal.from cover would it not be better to use a dog that doesn't want a mouth full or if getting a mouth full is what
  3. id guess thinking 2, 3 and 4 generations down the line, what y0u can breed to improve or maintain standards
  4. strong un in the bottom pic
  5. a very good point and one i'd not considered.
  6. I'm sure some dogs Would do it without taking too much stick, but some situations it was unavoidable. Good dogs would bust a gut to catch. Sometimes, especially on fence line they'd have to lunge and grab anywhere. Then they'd take the stick.
  7. nice one from what you said he is a helluva dog
  8. did they breed the lab x patt mate ? not yet he had it's sperm tested which was all good and he had some frozen, he's just waiting on the right bitch now,if he can find one this year ye can do it straight from the dog if not he'll wait until he finds what he wants atb AT nice one, what type of bitch you putting him on? i suppose there's not many lab/patt bitches about!
  9. did they breed the lab x patt mate ?
  10. Sounds right,i know shovel was R E,s bitch and was F stacey breedingwhich were smithy bred think there was other stuff in there too, someone put the pedigree up years ago.
  11. next time you got a few months spare do a search mate and start reading!!
  12. names ring no bells with me or any other local boys
  13. I will ask him lads, but i'm sure it'll be back to the normal weekend this year, which is the Saturday after the Welsh Game fair. I'll confirm. anyone thats been will tell you its a great show, probably the best in fact
  14. they would mate, a game apbt from good working lines as great stamina for that job in the pit, but as soon as you out x to greyhound you loosing that good stamina . I carnt work it out, because if x to a collie, saluki,Alsatian, deerhound, all breeds with good natural stamina , when x to greyhound the stamina not to bad and these type lurchers have had not bad wind. But put a pit x to greyhound you deff loose stamina compared to the other lurcher xs, feck knows why because as above pits in pure form have good stamina. as said before a bullx with collie or saluki in the mix, wi
  15. id guess the right bull would have good wind for most jobs
  16. I ve had 3 pitxs and pure ,and I never had any probs with there temps, either with other dogs or people , I nfact ive had other lurchers that had no pit in them that were nasty with dogs+people . I found them good dogs that give 100% on the job in front of them. t he only thing for me was , that they lacked stamina and agilty when I worked them. they did well for what they were, but other xs I found were better with the above. I am taking here on straight pit x greys, not salukixs with pit in or colliexs with pit in, as there throw a difdernt type bullx with the other breed added . I kno
  17. glad you had a good year, she's earned a break what X is Sky?
  18. fair enough Chid - he must have some good points too though - looks like a good mooching/marking/fereting dog?
  19. contact of mine has bull grey x collie grey - good bitch but apparently lacks a gear so they're putting a 3/4 grey 1/4 wheaton over her - hopefully make handy types
  20. would that be beardie in the mix Chid, like that a lot whats his faults?
  21. Funny you should mention. I said to Joe on another thread, if he wanted a lab lurcher he just needed to find a coursing dog to put over my bitch. Depending how she gets on with the boar in France, I've a two generation breeding plan to get some Aussie style running catch dogs. If I go down the lurcher route can I put you down for a pup? Lol. Put me down for one of those running catch dogs . . . . . France? There is a trip planned to France shortly. It is a recce to a boar park for later hunts. Yer I did get a text about that. . . . . replied. . . . and heard nowt! No i
  22. I take it you didn't base your kennel on her then Shamo ?
  23. if i could start from scratch and wanted a knock about hunting lurcher i thing GWP X would be my choice mainly because there are decent numbers of them working to a high standard on different game.
  24. were you one of those people that saw him Tripodcrest?
