  1. not my cup of tea, but I suppose I do understand that some people would pay to have pups bred off a dog that was proven producer that threw stuff as good as himself or maybe even better. with very low % of failures. .................
  2. Ive paid plenty money for well bred pups when I was much younger....non of them left any good impressions and they where all brought on well...in fact one of em was completely useless despite my awe at the sellers wowing me with the bloodlines......they just didnt have what it took despite the breeding.....I wouldnt dream of paying anything like that nowadays ( I was far more impressionable back then)...paying more money doesnt guarentee a decent pup..how can it?....The dearest pups are sold by people out to make money no matter what there justification for the price tag......When I need a n
  3. she is going to be big how old now HH ?
  4. A mate on here has a top class pointer x grey dog. is it a 1st x GWP grey mustelid?
  5. there's a few pointer X on here but most seem to be GWP X grey. Hardy types, hunting lurcher, daytime work on moor and hill.
  6. in most of Wales you can't help but avoid sheep, and vast majority of farmers are still happy for hounds for hunt through their land. you get the odd one that asks to give them a wide berth but in general the support is excellent. it sounds like in this case there's bad blood going back a while, because it's far from typical.
  7. I can't attest to the truth in it. It's just what someone who shoots foxes has told me last week i've also heard of people calling them in august/sept time and then clapping hands and generally making a racket to frighten them off.
  8. 30 in a morning, how many guns and lurchers would be out to account for that many?
  9. different dog mate, this bud was 1990s probably
  10. yes Bob, it sounded like they had done their homework on that litter
  11. If it was the litter that was advertised in here about a year ago, it was a GWP x grey dog over a track bitch which was retired through injury. The breeders had the bitch only a few weeks before covering her. I called them and said 'Hi I'm calling about the litter of pups.' Her response 'oh yes, which ones?' They had 4 litters on the ground at the time. That was enough info for me... the one i was thinking of the greyhound bitch had qualified for Clonmel, after her coursing days she had been worked on fox in Ireland.
  12. do u no if there's any still looking for home think one would be ideal for Sunday morning doing cover with the gun club think they've all gone mate, while ago now.
  13. i speak to the people in Ireland who bred the 1st X litter. you would struggle to pair a better dam and sire, both working and well tested over number of seasons. the greyhound bitch was coursing bred that went on to work in the field and the GWP was top notch example of the breed. i was sorely tempted.
  14. is the black bitch the one that was collie/whippet x bull
  15. regardless of dogs ability, I think even Al Capone said that Golly was a good producer.
  16. they manage to break foxhounds to them
  17. going back a bit but supposed to have been good dogs
  18. He was lurcher x lurcher with the line going back over some twenty odd years, a credit to his breeder, if you go back far enough you will find bull, beddy, collie and fox hound blood in the mix as well as the obvious greyhound. very nice and very similar to a dog i bred few yrs ago that went up to Scotland, he looked in great nick, life has a habit of kicking us in the nuts when we least expect it
  19. what breeding was he Dunkanon?, looks very well put together
  20. sad news mate, young dog too, big shame
