  1. the Pawle one is a lovely little book. Ive got the Paget book aswell if you want to buy it?
  2. I use panacur. I worm the bitch aswell from the 42nd day .5ml per 2kg i think. That way the bitch is clear and doesnt give the newborn worms through the milk. You give it until 2 days after shes whelped. Then worm pups has usual to be sure.
  3. If you are going out shooting things, then you are going to inflict suffering on animals. Why do you think they have pickers up on pheasant shoots? Lots of birds are injured on driven days. The best you can and should do is follow up and finish the job which you did. You can attempt perfect kill shots every time but you cant ever hope for 100% rate. Just shooting at something that moves is enough to complicate things without the wind, twigs or other variables. You did the right thing shooting it again in the head. Otherwise hold it firmly around body and wings and sharply crack its head off the
  4. yeah I think it might be quieter aswell. I like fac air rifles but the shot count on that Wolverine seems ridiculous,12 or 15 thats not much fun if thats true. Whats the recoil like? Have you shot an air ranger?
  5. Thanks mate ........ I couldn't agree more but I am a little biased . I've put a fair bit of work into these and i'm looking forward to the rewards. they're definitely characters and they have been a pleasure . Well Ive only seen them hunting Hares, but its nice to see them working things out for themselves. They have to most of the time, there aint many huntsmen can keep with them for long without horses!
  6. they look nice strong pups.clever little hounds Beagles.
  7. Ive just crossed a Cairn with a Hunt terrier but i cant think what to call them!
  8. Just for the record... NEVER fire any proper rifle into the air period and that includes bushes, trees, wall top etc, in fact anywhere you do not have a verifiable background behind the object that acts as a proper safe bullet stop. I believe from memory an elevated .22 LR round is dangerous to a range of 1.5 MILES (it's usually printed on the boxes). (When elevated it a bullet follows a parabolic curve and with the right angle of elevation that becomes the max range for .22 LR)!!!!) Centre-fire is considerably more dangerous, from memory I've seen warnings of 3 miles or more!
  9. Anyone shooting an fx boss or wolverine?

  11. The rub is with these kc peds unless you know someone who can give you background and tell you all they know themselves about the dogs on them then you are not in a good place. Once you delve into the family tree of your dog then you have to be prepared to take it good or bad. There is faults and disappointments in all pedigrees. I have spent years before getting to truths abou ta dogs breeding. A knowledgable person can help fill in a lot of gaps for you in a short time, which can help you decide which way you want to breed yourself in the future. Being paranoid doesnt really help.
  12. transporting to England is usually simple with the Greyhound transport I think.
  13. Spaniels will push foxes out, especially if you dont condition them to quartering and just let them hunt from a puppy.

I only had it on i think the 2nd setting. I would only really use it on rats and rabbits at a push. Its not really very sporting but effective for rats.
  15. You can read this one if you like.
  16. Your not seriously making that judgement from that photo? It would need to be on level flags to see that.
  17. Its a fictional story about a young man taking on a hunt and an old huntsman. Its a very good read.I enjoyed it anyway.
  18. Im not looking for it. Ive read it.Im asking if anyone else had.

We shot 11 rats tonight with this bit of kit. Its very good on a hw100 shooting from about 20yds in total darkness. .177 with bisley mags.
  20. Anyone read a book called mr Spinks and his hounds?
  21. What was the Scottish pack? Buchannan was master wasnt he?
  22. Some people get the wool pulled over and they dont like it. Its good to know honest people who can help you understand your pedigree. Sometimes it can take years to find a dogs real background. There are so many fckin liars out there.
