    genes from dog and bitch split into two parts and randomly come together again in the egg. So all genes are in two parts.One half from the dog and one from the bitch. Thats why some genes are not pure but express a certain trait ie courage or determination. The other half of that gene could be cowardice/lack of determination as a mental trait but it is not visible in the dog because the courage half is dominant.     Dont be put off mate.You will get permission if you dont give up. A good thing to start with is pigeons around farm buildings and grain stores or rats.Those are things that really bother farmers and are ideally dealt with by an air rifle..

    Good point here, I just don't think culling is as prevalent in the dog game as people like to think..........we hear a lot of talk on here about how genuine terrier men gift their pups, this may be true, but I think the vast majority still sell on pups/unwanted stock..........I don't know a huge amount about line breeding, but I know a lot of inferior stock is still put out there by 'genuine terrier men'. Surely culling must be as important as the choice of breeding for a consistent line? spot on .If its faulty it mustnt be bred from. It should be culled or neutered.

    I think people take comformation or shape into account more than they think. You can have a dog with the heart of a lion,but if he is too big for the earths you are doing then he will struggle so you wont ever know his true potential. When you come to breed most people will automatically be looking to reduce size and select small types from his litters. This is common sense.     I would never feed all in one.I cook meat and veg and raw aswell and add a sprinkle of Australian formula which i found good as a mixer only. I add cod liver oil the tea spoonful a day as too much will hold up the protien in the liver. Dogs like old fashioned stews with meat and veg and either brown bread or good mixer,they also get moisture then with the soup. If you cook meat in the same pot for a few days and take the fat off when cold you will get a nice jellyfied broth which dogs love cold or warmed with a bit of hot water.     i remember being at a russell club meeting one member a well known russell and hunt terrierman gave a long speech on how the kc would be the ruination of the russell and how we should avoid it like the plague and how we should try and stop it ----- years later having missed the boat re kc reg he started his own russell club presented records and pedigrees and via the irish kc joined up for the money------ his pups went up from 200 to 500 overnight. thing is theres nothing to stop the show mob showing at kc shows or working terrier shows -------- will it be the ruination of the working patt n

    thornit can be dangerous. Canaural needs prescription. I thought ear mites are usually in summer. ruggles is good natural stuff and it loosens wax,but it does stink a bit.
