  1. lovely bitch, and determined with it.
  2. that shed wants a bit of felt on it i think..
  3. They are too good to be true mate..Look up Oakleyweigh and have a look at the pet scales. about 300. they want to be left in situ somewhere is best.
  4. Its not used for running dogs but running dog pups,in which case it has a lot more relevance than for a terrier whos job below does not involve chasing or making sudden changes of direction. For terriers it is only used for fitness. Lets be clear,Im not talking about dogs hanging off rope tied to a tree. Im talking ten foot pole and rope with lure or fishing rod type.
  5. we used to feed ours on chappie or breast of lamb which was almost nothing to buy.
  6. Tripe with vinegar on is good pure food, and a lot healthier than processed crap full of e numbers..Its a delicousy like pigs trotters. People today are lazy and mostly feed there dogs processed shit from a bag thats usually been recommended by some bent vet. Id rather feed rabbit guts..
  7. Its just common sense. Ive had mine playing since they are old enough to chase each other. A pup can only hurt itself when it has the muscle power to drive. Anything you do with pups is in small amounts, but the education is building.
  8. How does playing with a tyre equate to a flirt pole? We are talking about a dog learning to use itself, not chew on a giant teething ring..Please dont write something off just because its something you have never tried in 30 years of keeping dogs..
  9. You cant beat a flirt pole mate, for lurcher and terrier for fitness, but it also teaches lurcher pups that things dont always go in straight lines.
  10. Not a guessing game but selection, selection is what nature does naturally and we have to learn to do by eye. Its what lies behind all good live stock breeding..
  11. Do the breeding mate. You wont regret it. Its all about selection though.Dont be in a hurry to get shut of the litter. Try to keep them to at least three months,to see what builds are like because pups can change a lot.
  12. its a bitch he wants and not a very young pup,but thanks
  13. Ive got a mate whos looking for a non ped whippet bitch. any help appreciated. not sure if he wants it for racing but he doesnt like kc whippets. Thanks for looking.
  14. the dog in the pic is a rabbiter. A good Bullx of mine caught a big dog mink in the water that had been shook from a tree.He took it onto the bank and shook it a lot more until it was dead, but it took some killing. You wouldnt expect a rabbit type dog to do too much with them. Ive dug them with terriers in the past and if they can be reached they were swiftly killed.
  15. chopped and chipped...another unwanted pet
  16. where was this? not Britain. Are you trying to be smug?
  17. There used to be a guy on this site Clucky, havent see him on for a while,he had a hancock dog Tarn that used to take 70-100 fox a season over the 2 seasons I saw him work,he was exceptional. And thats what it is.an exception.
  18. That is the answer. Its as simple as that.
  19. Had some great dogs (to me) over a few years, but then came across Bullx and everything changed. I have been back a few times to try other crosses but they cant compete with the Bullx . Not all good, but like other types it all depends on good breeding.. The main thing is mutual bond and respect. I admire all good dogs and would gladly keep any lurcher type if bullx didnt exist. One of the best and gamest dogs ive owned outside bullcrosses was what can only be described as a Saluki mongrel,he was endless, gutsy and very clever..I get a lump in my throat just thinking of him.
  20. Dogs descended from wolves are used to killing for food and used to killing animals that are born prey animals whos biggest defence is to run. In other words its not natural to kill a fox to eat (except chinx) and dogs are wired to dominate and kill. For a dog to deal with an animal that first of all is not natural food and also fights back with violence that dog needs to have been bred for exaggerated drive and/ or unnatural gameness. Most wild predators are not interested in fighting, they are interested in eating. Thats why I always think if you wanted to take Fox with a dog it should be the
  21. has anyone seen a stoat roll an egg ? if so how did it do it?
  22. I met a whippet coursing bloke on a day out when proper coursing under rules was legal. He told me his first bitch came into season when she was 14months old. She was from very good stock and so he took his chance and bred from her.She gave birth to 4 pups and never came into season again, but he had the pups and 40 years later when he was telling me he had never bought another pup in and only ever bred his own all starting with that first litter...The point is its your stock and its upto you when you breed. We cant help that a lot of plonkers are breeding for the wrong reasons..we should just
