  1. We were out with the hounds one day when a hound tore the stopper pad. A vet who was out with us cut it off with his penknife, and that was his advice..Dont try to heal them back but just remove them.
  2. paint with 50/50 pva or thomsons waterseal
  3. does anyone use powerful torches for lamping? How to they compare to lamps ie striker 170 or blazerlite?
  4. If you had not put other at the end you would have a wide choice, but because you have included OTHER it only leaves Bullx lurcher from good bloodlines.
  5. Thank you mate, I'm also from glos area, I know they hunt down Wiltshire ways but never knew a hound pack who hunted rivers in Gloucestershire What about the three counties?
  6. I used to beat myself up over all this now I'm pretty much leaning towards brother sister matings if I get two that I like. I just did it last year and I am very pleased with the results. hi dan i did that about 8 years ago with very good resalts.did you have any monged pups all mine were fine one was a bit small all others very evan No I didn't have any pups with any sort of problems. I don't think you really will unless its just there. I have seen completely unrelated dogs throw pups with issues. I know of a story of a guy breeding brother to sister something like 4 or 5 genera
  7. sounds like you are doing right mate, but I would never rear any pup without Goats milk.
  8. Its the germ cells that divide and rejoin. They are seperate from the body cells. In other words its not the dogs themselves or there bodies that are actually reproducing but the genetic information that there germ cells are carrying. Forget the dogs themselves and concentrate on what they are carrying.
  9. Again its still about selection. Thats where a man who can keep whole litters will score, but its not difficult, especially if you dont lie to yourself. Upstairs aint much good without the right toolbag either..
  10. theres a lad called Mick C on here with Wheatons.
  11. Yeah all the clever ones obsess about height to shoulder but never bother with weight..
  12. lovely bitch, and determined with it.
  13. that shed wants a bit of felt on it i think..
  14. They are too good to be true mate..Look up Oakleyweigh and have a look at the pet scales. about 300. they want to be left in situ somewhere is best.
  15. Its not used for running dogs but running dog pups,in which case it has a lot more relevance than for a terrier whos job below does not involve chasing or making sudden changes of direction. For terriers it is only used for fitness. Lets be clear,Im not talking about dogs hanging off rope tied to a tree. Im talking ten foot pole and rope with lure or fishing rod type.
  16. we used to feed ours on chappie or breast of lamb which was almost nothing to buy.
  17. Tripe with vinegar on is good pure food, and a lot healthier than processed crap full of e numbers..Its a delicousy like pigs trotters. People today are lazy and mostly feed there dogs processed shit from a bag thats usually been recommended by some bent vet. Id rather feed rabbit guts..
  18. Its just common sense. Ive had mine playing since they are old enough to chase each other. A pup can only hurt itself when it has the muscle power to drive. Anything you do with pups is in small amounts, but the education is building.
  19. How does playing with a tyre equate to a flirt pole? We are talking about a dog learning to use itself, not chew on a giant teething ring..Please dont write something off just because its something you have never tried in 30 years of keeping dogs..
  20. You cant beat a flirt pole mate, for lurcher and terrier for fitness, but it also teaches lurcher pups that things dont always go in straight lines.
  21. Not a guessing game but selection, selection is what nature does naturally and we have to learn to do by eye. Its what lies behind all good live stock breeding..
  22. Do the breeding mate. You wont regret it. Its all about selection though.Dont be in a hurry to get shut of the litter. Try to keep them to at least three months,to see what builds are like because pups can change a lot.
