  1. Dogs descended from wolves are used to killing for food and used to killing animals that are born prey animals whos biggest defence is to run. In other words its not natural to kill a fox to eat (except chinx) and dogs are wired to dominate and kill. For a dog to deal with an animal that first of all is not natural food and also fights back with violence that dog needs to have been bred for exaggerated drive and/ or unnatural gameness. Most wild predators are not interested in fighting, they are interested in eating. Thats why I always think if you wanted to take Fox with a dog it should be the
  2. has anyone seen a stoat roll an egg ? if so how did it do it?
  3. I met a whippet coursing bloke on a day out when proper coursing under rules was legal. He told me his first bitch came into season when she was 14months old. She was from very good stock and so he took his chance and bred from her.She gave birth to 4 pups and never came into season again, but he had the pups and 40 years later when he was telling me he had never bought another pup in and only ever bred his own all starting with that first litter...The point is its your stock and its upto you when you breed. We cant help that a lot of plonkers are breeding for the wrong reasons..we should just
  4. what do you mean by FULL Golly? no half casts
  5. 40 years ago i seen a very hard dog trying to kill a stoat out in the open. The stoat was just too fast jumping and bit the dog all over the face. in the end the stoat got away..Its no black mark on a dog.. Cnut down the pub says its an Otter.
  6. A bit of a loaded question your putting there, but why do you think it should be 24months? Surely its upto the owner, but 90% are breeding to make money anyway.
  7. what do you mean by FULL Golly?
  8. nice pup. I would think she will make 23/24 easy. What sort of background do the parents come from,..working?
  9. Sorry if it all sounds a bit negative, but these lads are right. That dog has got nothing behind it. It is just a show dog and all the stories will be bullshit mate. it all depends if you want a real working litter or just buy into the fantasys on offer...im going on experience and i would advise you to find a real working stud dog.
  10. she will be wanting more of that now youve got her started.
  11. Dogs can thrive on meat alone if they get enough, and they love it..Most dogs do not take to sweet stuff naturally ime especially honey. It has to be introduced.
  12. They used to cook all meat, mainly because of the Tape worm.
  13. Bread is a filler like pasta.. If you fed your dog on meat and it lost weight it meant more flesh was required. Im not saying you shouldnt feed bread or whatever you want but to say a dog cant live by just meat is wrong. Hunt kennels with a good round will feed flesh only.. For most of us flesh only is too expensive and or too much effort. Most folk just want to feed from a bag,and mostly there dogs are too fat. Micky Finn Are you American? I have never found a chapter in an American dog book on feeding flesh, apart from the old fighting dog books..Mostly they talk about what bags to feed
  14. most hancock dogs come without balls anyway ..sorry couldnt resist..
  15. Farmers get very up tight during lambing. When you go and see them face to face they should realise its just some jealous/nasty coward. offer to show them your dogs amongst sheep.
  16. Not trying to upset or wind anyone up. I am just saying, look at the breeds origins and what there jobs are. The Greyhounds answer is to chase it. The Bulls is to bite hard and ignore anything coming back. The Collies is to give it the evil eye.. Im not knocking Collie/greyhound lurchers,Ive had plenty as a kid,but If you are mixing Bull and Greyhound you dont need Collie,as a rule they dont like teeth, and anything else is obtainable from the Bull and Greyhound if the right selection is made..
  17. The Bull and the Greyhound have so much in there own right and bred together or individually they are old and established dogs that chase, bite and kill things..You dont need to add Collie imo but people who have a Collie x Greyhound can loose something of the Greyhound and so look to the Bull to put it right..
  18. Its a tame fox and they are Pals. I know an old farming couple who had a pet Fox and he was best mates with the dog. When the fox eventually died the old dog refused food and died shortly after..They always used to play like that..
  19. Your computer must be broke.
  20. Halfx bull/grey dont overshoot like the 3/4,and imo makes a better alrounder Yeh, but they,d need to be on a Motorbike to catch an Hare . True but you wouldnt catch many with a Saluki x in small fields and besides im not mad for catching Hares,I just liked to see them coursed.
