  1. Bob, I've had a Ruger Hornet for a few months now and can't find much to fault it. I've read about it not being the best choice but what the feck do folk want it to do, sing and dance? I was a novice before christmas with firearms, accompanying a good friend,(an FAD) out as lamp man and using that experience as mentoring with him, he let me shoot and advised on all I asked. I shot my first fox with the Hornet the other night at 90 yds and it dropped like a sack of shit. It does make a fair crack but I've stuck a T4 mod on the end and it does the business fine, you just get a whoosh and light s
  2. Is it really that easy fella? I'm thinking of getting one. What tools do you need?
  3. Make sure you get your prize fella, I've had several dodgy experiences with that shop and the owner kept us waiting for an age at the Shooting show, so long in fact that we just walked away from trying to buy a shotty we were kept that long. I'd call that ignorant. I've heard of others too with grievances. Local or not I won't be using them again. Enjoy your prize.
  4. The news stations are going bananas about Bin Liner....I'd say a good day to slip in the repeal.

    MOORLAND FIRES

I could see smoke from the Woodhead valley, Londendale earlier from home. Just in time to ruin the nesting season for all the ground nesting birds. Terrible news.
  6. I would say no to that safe being passed, especially if there's any "play" once the padlocks are in place. Padlocks are easily broken off. The police like to see snug fitting doors on safes with five point locking hinges with inward return edges to deter the door from being levered off. But there again, each force interpret the law differently.
  7. (quote name='lurcher1' timestamp='1303166311' post='2020961'] did anyone see the liverpool v united youth team score I saw the FA youth cup results....and with two goals start as well.
  8. Got mine done in November, £60. Heard about the supposed hike but nothing's happened yet.
  9. Self taught drummer. I had a tasty Premier kit in my youth and played a few clubs in the North West. Used to turn out on a sunday afternoon with the group playing in front of concert secretaries looking for bookings. Happy days.
  10. I'm sure I've seen these torches mounted on the side of a scope.
  11. I shoot a CZ .22LR. It suits what I need it for and is an excellent little rifle. Reels in the rabbits and corvids with confidence when they're just that bit further away.
  12. They were knocking those boots out for £65 at the Shooting Show yesterday.
  13. Try here fella, also available on Ebay sometimes. http://www.bushwear.co.uk/search.php?search=silent+wallet Alternatively, as has been said, get a ten round magazine to top up your five round mag.
  14. I picked a small ammo case up off ebay. It's an MTM "Silent wallet". Bushwear do them for about £6. They hold 30 rounds and each round snaps into position in the case so there's no rattling and bullets easily got out.
  15. Does anyone know, will ammunition be available to buy at the show? I could do with some 35g V-Max for the Hornet.
  16. On my rimmy I have a Harris 9"-13" and I also have a Buffalo 13"-23" for shooting while sitting off bankings in long grass etc. I use the Harris on both the rimmy and Hornet. I also sometimes use sticks with the Hornet.
  17. I have an Ase Ultra,(£90) on my Hornet and it does the job fine. It's not as if I'm putting plenty through it, as it's for fox, maybe one a night if I'm lucky!
  18. Strange as it may seem but those occupations you mention are ideal referees for a shotgun license. It's easier to find folk to put on your FAC application form as referees.
  19. Yes, I had two holders of a FAC on my application.
  20. Fair point Ric but the foxes have been getting more and more brave 1 even goes as close as 2 feet from the golfers and ground staff and dont even run when they shout at it ,it just stands and stares and are now regarded as a pest to the golfers. The head greenkeeper has asked us to shoot all vermin including fox and deer on the course,so who are we to argue I wondered too just like Ric, but if you've been asked to remove them, then that's what you must do, if you don't someone else will. Discretion is needed on a golf course. I do plenty of them, mainly on the lamp, and there's folk wa
  21. The Pennine don't like being mentioned on these kind of places...phone the Master because details will not be given on here, I hope!
  22. Put in for mine at the end of October and got it through early December, to run with the shotty cert.
