  1. Had quite a bit of success with mine over the years, especially around this time of year. They definitely work best if you place a dead bird under them - almost without fail! Had a crack with it again today When I last used it
  2. Never mind the old man's .222, get a .223 and do the job properly
  3. May be of some use: How to Aim and Shoot Up [uphill and Downhill]:
  4. Looks the business VM Tidy little unit
  5. Great shooting Cedric, have you tried Eley at all yet? They were amazing through my CZ452 at 100 yards. The group was under 3/4 inch. I've got the ammo testing video on the channel if you haven't seen it already. I generally zero at yards
  6. Putting foxes to one side for a moment, I honestly feel that the .22LR has been way underestimated since the arrival of the HMR. I sold my Anschutz HMR after buying a secondhand CZ .22LR for £150! It now caters for rabbits out to 125 yards with relative ease. I never really shot my HMR past 150 yards so for me the .22LR could do 99% of what I needed for rabbits! Same could be said for foxes. I shot two with the HMR, both head shots at sub yards. The .22LR could almost definately do the same. I sold the HMR to fund a .223 which will smack them out to almost any practical range. Ea
  7. After some ammo testing a couple of weeks ago I had a play with my new home made steel target yesterday. The target is 6" x 4" and made from mild steel. Put it out at 400 yards with an exploding target stuck to the front . Very good fun.
  8. What do you lads think of the Hornady reloading kit? Had my eye on one in my local shop for quite a while. Just need to save up a bit now
  9. So what's the practical visible range and clarity like?
  10. How clear are these things lads? How do they compare to the add-on offerings from like Nite Site?
  11. Can you post a link to the YouTube video? Might have a pop at this myself
  12. Hi Dan, they will be kept in the house
  13. Thanks lads. Just finished fitting the electrics this week with the old chap. Ran a three core cable from the consumer unit in the house, under the upstairs floor boards, under the landing window into a weatherproof box outside. Then ran an armoured cable into a small consumer unit in the outbuilding. Inside I've now got two double socket plugs and a couple of strip lights which should be plenty for me to run a chest freezer, electric heater, kettle and any other power tools A proper electrician in coming round tomorrow to have a gander and make sure it's all safe before I switch i
  14. Been discontinued, but I managed to get one before they all ran out. Good game bag
  15. VWman, the HW range of rifles really are quality bits of kit. As Simon has already mentioned, you can find very old examples that are just as good and sometimes even better than those produced today. Take the HW77 / 97 range for example. The older versions like mine and Simon's will have the 25mm piston. These are arguably much sweeter to shoot than the 26mm pistons which were later introduced to create more swept volume for the export markets. If you can find an older HW77 like Simon's in good condition I'd say go for it! You may only pay £150-200 for it and another £-120 on a decen
  16. That's very kind of you Simon but I'm sure that I'm not a patch on any dedicated spring rifle shooters today, especially having neglected to use my HW77K for so many months. Despite moving into rimfire and centrefire all this talk of proper, quality spring powered air rifles is really starting to peak my interest again. I can see the old HW77K coming out of the cabinet again now that Spring is around the corner and I feel we need to get reaquanted. You correct about my '77 though Simon. Manufactured and built to last in 1985, it was a hand-me-down from my Grandfather. In fact I rescue
  17. Good call. Looks like they have a nice range of spring rifles now. I particularly like the walnut stocked LGV version
  18. Simon is spot on. I haven't used it in quite a while but my Dave Hall tuned .22 HW77K can be pretty accurate from the prone position with practice. Not too long ago I was out plinking HMR cases at 50m / 54 yards.. not lengthways either - shooting the base of them! Ok I didn't hit them all the time but I wasn't too far off, especially considering they are the same width as a .22 pellet
  19. Me too Davy. In fact, if anything I thought both of them had the freedom to discuss their tuning ventures
  20. What's going on over there villaman?! PM me of you'd prefer!
  21. Mmm.. In the market for a new rangefinder. Might enquire about the standard ones on the website which lookbgood upto 1200m. I imagine they are the same units Bushnell and Hawke rebrand as their own
