    my old man was one of a old school bunch of poachers. always had running dogs around me an eventually got into them myself.

    i have the option of fallow deer/ rabbits/ foxes with a 15minute walk from the house i have to walk for about half hour to find hares. its only a couple of minutes in the car my favourite sport even pre ban is the rabbits. imo a dog needs alot of heart to go out and catch reasonable size bags of bunnys night after night.

    it is bloody annoying hope it has been removed all together. there was young children in the house the first i had the voice on my laptop and i thought it was disgusting and so did the parents of the children. they must of been wondering what i was looking at on the computer.

    can someone tell me whats the minimum requirement of breeds needed in a dog before they are classed as a lurcher.

    ive only been out with one wheaton X she was getting on when i saw her. she was used around the hole pre ban and appeared to still be o.k at her job.

    the sire to my pup is a lurcher and is the breeders own line of lurcher i belive from 30 odd years ago.

    keep taking the dog out as much as possible, they aint stupid he will soon get the idea that its easier to chase and catch the one in the beam rather than chasing ones in the dark. it boils down to time and effort on your part. you should be able to break him of that habbit.

    i wouldnt own a bull X they just dont seem to have what i need in a dog.

    thank you skycat. he is a malamute/greyhound X lurcher. taken them out young does seem to give you a mature dog early on a old head on young shoulders is what i like to aim for.

    this is the second dog i have entered from a pup myself but its the 3rd dog i have owned that has been entered this way. i thought it was a crazy idea when showed the method but it seems to work well and i will always train my dogs the same way. Trigger have you still got the other dogs your talking about?. Not knocking your methods as you say they work but putting that sort of strain on a 5 month old pup surley would have some long term affects on the dog?. i have one of the dogs hes still works he will be 7 in september the other has been dead for 14 years or so she died from o

    i decide to take the pup out for a couple of hours on his own last night just to see how hes coming along as a single handed dog, most of his work lately has been doubled up just to learn the ropes. it was a still clear night with a light due on the ground so i wasnt expecting to see a great deal, he had a few runs and worked the lamp very well. hes just over 5months and a week old stands at 23.5tts i couldnt be any happier with him at the moement roll on winter retrieved them all to hand 3 alive and one just about alive.
