  2. Last mooch of the season today. Time for walks on beach, plenty of road work, terrier and lurcher shows and of course fishing.

  7. I've always had loads of dogs but as I get older I've promised the wife that as they die off I won't replace em and I'll only keep one dog but tbh ya need a terrier and lurcher so I'm gonna have to find a way around to break that promise ?
  8. rabbit for the pot and one rat today, couple of marks and missed some rats bolting.
  9. Good mooch today. Flushed rabbits and long ears and got two rats, one in the video and another marked and caught as he bolted from a stick pile. Rat in the video was marked and flushed from a stick pile and hunted to his burrow.

Bad injury at 3 yrs old ment I never got the prime yrs out of him but he's a honest dog, very well mannered, still puts an odd rabbit in the bag on the lamp, will exercise long ears, good at the rats marking and catching bolters from holes. About 7 yrs now.
  12. Organic lamb chops gifted by a friend and local organic farmer who I do vermin control for and who's farm my son does work experience on every week. Delicious.

  15. I would say you could argue that a lurcher that retrieves live to hand on the lamp in working within the law
  16. Shot a hare yrs ago, it cried like a baby, I swore id never lift a gun to a hare again and never have, much rather see a chase.

  18. When you're hungover to bits and need food but the finances only either a curer or a take away but not both...... Home made ham, tomato and cheese omelette to the rescue washed down with the hair of the dog ?
  19. Mine caught a hare this yr, just as it jumped out of its seat, unusual cos mine are not usually hare catchers, but when I checked her out her front leg was skinned to the bone, probably a car done the damage.
  20. Depends on lots of things but I would say the best prime when a dogs at his absolute best yrs of a working dog are between 4 and 7 yrs age, definitely by 8yrs the miles will start to show but no reason a dog can't be useful right up into old age.
