    Got out local for few hours today. Got one mark and rat on a spot I haven't checked since last yr. Dogs were hunting well til Floyd could hear fire works going off in the distance, once he heard them the tail dropped and he was finished hunting for the day.... Halloween is a c**t of a time for my terrier, the fire works have him traumatized.

    So had planned to hunt with a pal and his beagles but rain and wind put that off. Bout lunchtime the weather eased off so I went local for a few hrs. Bolted a rabbit the very first field I hit, a field that's been bare of rabbits since last yr. Got a chase off a big ears,Zara viewed and chased hard, she's fast but not lurcher fast so puss was safe as houses. Got a good mark in the small woods accounted for one big rat. Kept mooching flushed plenty and dogs were working well. Got another mark on a muck hill, two bolted and gave me the slip. On way home got another good hunt on a rabbit in

    Got home early when still light so hot out for quick mooch on a local farm. Usually but if scent on it but has been bare of rabbits the last two yrs....saw two today and got a nice lil hunt off one.

    Just went local today... plenty of birds on the ground(gun club must released more than usual probably why no sign of fox, they'd be rifling em hard with so many birds being put out) few big ears that gave us some good trailing but ner a rabbit to be found on this patch. Got two good marks at rats that produced 5 in total with one getting away. Got 3 kits in one mark and 2 young adults in other.     Real drop in temp and lots of rain ment autumn/winter was proper here, that usually means I start getting marks at rat burrows. This morning I brought the spade for first time since last March. Got good hunt at big ears, flushed plenty of birds and got two marks, no sign of a rabbit anywhere on this particular ground though.One mark got me a nest of a big doe rat and four near grown kits. Second mark was on a deep ditch so I moved on cos there's always burrows down in the ditch ya can't find were you loose the rats but I was delighted to see my GS pup Zara mark that burrow.
