Very artistic carrots you have there they still got grated Tel for the coleslaw jj were they grown in recently manured soil or was the soil stoney or heavy all possible causes of forked carrots.?i grow them in big containers were you can mix compost and sharp sand and have plenty drainage. darb they were grown in a 3x2 wooden box 3ft deep filled with riddled ash and soil, i have some more in another place 2 scaffold battens deep and dug deeper and that was riddled also, but i did put a mixture of sand in this, i also have parsnips in this bed, so we shall see, the carrots

  6. Never mind at least you tried. ive seen a few very well trained dogs over the years and not all had a heavy base line as you put it. i recall a diamond a whippet/greyhound biddable as could be and as crafty as a scouser.
  7. The irish terrier has always intrested me. my old grandad used to tell me tales of a dog he had always catching pheasents etc how intelligent it was and so on. Now my old grandad could tell a good tale so how true it really was i dont know. But as a busher a marking dog for ferreting retrieving shot game in the right hands i cant see why not. i cant put links up but if you type in Kaylee- a working irish terrier there is some info on them working in the usa. maybe of some intrest?

  11. Good pic dai ive also got the book. There was a lot of hype about this type back in the day. in the right hands most i have seen made decent enough dogs. i also have seen the video clip of celt as a young pup playing cat and mouse with his first rabbit as described in the book.
  12. There is a good pic of celt in phil lloyds book a moochers tale. looks a good stamp of 3/4 cross.
  13. A long check cord couple of recalls each session plenty praise/treats. a slight jerk of the cord to get her coming back your way walk /run backwards and reward. using the cord you are in control not the other way round till the habit of coming back is established. use a whistle etc. plenty of patience with a 9 month old that has had no apparent training.use the summer time to develop a bond with the pup.you have missed out on the early months with the dog. dont rush anything just take your time. look at it as something to enjoy. a lot to work on stock breaking general obedience etc, but recall

  17. How much deerhound was in toms dogs? had a few conversations/letters with tom in the 90s.he offered me a pup for free still got the letter. i didnt take him up on the offer the time was not right.
  18. groves has not really been tested. a decent close win over degale. he was in a lot of trouble against the rugged/strong but slow scot kenny anderson hurt knocked down didnt do well when put under pressure. but to his credit got his act back together and won so well done. holds his hands way too low at times. needs to go in with a good plan against froch and stick to it. if he decideds to have a tear up i feel froch will have too much power and he is relentless when a opponent is in trouble. he will put a lot of pressure on groves. looking forward to the fight.
  19. Cracking pics. good healthy looking plants and good crops the set up is a credit to you. nice kits too. atb.
  20. a little goats milk in a dish keeps them occupied while fitting the collars.a carton in the fridge keeps for a good while. after a while they accept it no bother. dont give them cows milk as they are lactose intolerant. good luck with your future ferreting Gunny Sonics and Zor.
