  1. When folk visit this site and want a specific dog to do a specific task i find its better to point them in a direction that will firstly suit the mutt and secondly their ambition.I find it totally incredulous that some would point them towards a direction that will put another dog on the merry-go-round of unwanted jukels and another disenchanted lurcher owner.Plus anybody entering this site could do a little research first, then source something fecking suitable.Mind you nuggets and lurchers are like Rhubarb and Custard-made for each other.
  2. 2 dogs and they both ran for safety?.How much does 2 bullets cost in Oz?.
  3. Stunning, better than tripping over mole hills and trying to source the easiest route to the next illuminated gallop.
  4. Do people still venture forth in daylight hours, thats so olde school mucker.
  5. Well we would be doing more than just comparing lamps with a bit of luck Well we would be doing more than just comparing lamps with a bit of luck what else youse going to be comparing lol I used to spend more time finding a Wipac on a 4x4 then wiring it up to my wifes favourite lamps switch and a battery rescued from a forlorn motorbike than bickering about the next best thing on the market that could illuminate a crouching rodent.Ive yet to source any lamp as good as a Wipac, with cut down bean tin taped to the front.Todays moderner lamper is more pampered perhaps.
  6. There are Bedlingtons and then there are other Bedlingtons. In over 30 years ive never lost terriers entering as pairs and have purposely entered them at times, ive lost my share of individuals entering. The main things to take into consideration, know the lie of the land and know your charges and how they work, alone or together. hi can i ask why you would enter two dogs to ground is there something to be gained by this, personally i think it causes more problems than it cures. At times it happens as a result of the terriers bushing ahead of you,at other times ive extracted a fox or many
  7. If you are paying that sort of dollar for U.S. based pups why not put that dollar into a couple of imports from the UK.Many a dubious UK kennel as earnt an unscrupulous crust from stiffing their Yank cousins,so id do a bit of research and source something a tad more honest.Ill nearly guarantee any genuine terrier lad over here would be insulted to take your brass and would be honoured to get a decent terrier over the pond for you.
  8. If i wanted a bunny basher a Bull/Whippet would not figure high on my wish list.I find it a sad reflection of the lurcher scene now that folk want a mutt to utilise for its appearance over its functionality.
  9. Its about percentages, honesty, the kennel owner, terrain and breeding and a 4 leaf clover.
  10. A fully trained bushing terrier for that amount of money is a snip, you only need to look at the price of terrier pups now, then to train it up to a useful standard makes it an easier and cheapish option for the right person.Id not pay for a terrier, with 20 years of breeding, that failed to enter,to many bushing packs that type of terrier would be worth its weight in gold. a fool and his money are easily parted. A bigger fool can never see a bargain.

  12. My mutts drop in on a regular basis and often enter in pairs, the 3rd terrier is a sapling and is kept under closer control. At times it as not been an ideal situation and needed dealing with, any terrier dropping in is 1 hole away from a major incident and we deal with such accordingly, more than 2 terriers in can make the situation a tad more fraught and a tad easier. The sapling is there as a back-up for when the next grafter is lost,we all lose them no matter how careful we are and i know for a fact the sapling will at some time move up the ladder and another will have to follow.I only release
  13. I don't run Roe and my fields are enormous ok, but do u drive the land? Lol Sometimes, but 90% on foot. I never understood why lads that aren't into bull xs go so far out their way to crab on them. Are they intimidated because deep down they know their dogs could never do what a bull x could even if their lil bunny bashers are a little bit quicker. The average lurcher equipped itself well enough before the intro of Bull, the Bull suited a select company and now many of that company cannot see above their limitations. The vast majority of lurchers fare far better because their is no Bull
  14. The only time i have a terrier on a leash is to and from hunting ground, then they are released, often 3 or more.Do accidents happen? certainly,do i walk past quarry that a leashed terrier misses?,possibly not.Ive lost more terriers that saw work from the restrictions of a leash than i have that where less restricted.I like to know the lie of the land and hunt accordingly and often source a factor that was not present the times ive hunted it before.Every time a terrier is taken out there is a probability it will not come home, leashed or free and we have to take that into the equation and accept
  15. The reason why nuggets, standing on street corners, like the breed is because they look in condition when they are not in condition. They are slow because they are slow and making excuses up for their lack of pace is another excuse for an excuse, the only thing that makes a bull x run faster is the other percentages in the breeding, fit or otherwise. You've obviously never seen a well bred bull cross in proper condition run if you think they are all slow.Yes some of the big poorly bred monstrosities knocking about are complete shirt but no worse than a poorly bred example of any cross. Obviously
  16. What other types wouldn't you bother with? Beagle spaniels? They are spoken highly of by the lads who've seen them graft.Depends on the land i guess, if your hunting vast land / hills then yeah a beagle x would be better but if i was looking for something to stay close i would leave the beagle out , i wouldnt want chance having beagle blood places i hunt just incase they did range to farerage terrierThe reason i thort a terrier would do well as the covers id work are quite small and tight but after a think i dont need a dog that keeps going to ground Little spaniel x will get any where a te

  18. Percentages,i owned one that was mustard on long, fast, arduous gallops, the other 3/4,s of its breeding more than likely made up for that. There lies the biggest problem with Bull folklore, the other percentage in the majority of Bull breeding makes up for what the Bull lacks, fact.Another fact is the Bull in many of the finest Bull bred lurchers makes the dog what it is.The dog was bred to suit a selective kennel and those kennels suited the Bull bred lurcher. The feckwits, nuggets, ego,s and chancers slinked into the breed and ruined the dogs reputation,it was never bred for Hares and a fleetness of

  20. A failed earth dog will serve another kennel that wishes to utilise its other terrier attributes,at times a cull is better than a life on the merry-go-round.Culling the progeny before they have had a chance is an act of feckless ignorance and stupidity.

    Final Walk

Been there as well as many folk on sites like this, the dog deserved more respect than any audience could give it.At times like this many a mutt enters the earth without the false sentiment of an audience. In life you shouldn't take yerself to seriously pal. The last walk is the true test of the dogs owner, its the hardest last few yards id ever wish anyone to travel.
  22. Ive yet to see a decent Russel with Bull in the mix,ive seen many a piss poor terrier bull influenced.

  24. Any busher that cannot interact with a lurcher is as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike, any busher that fails to service an attendant lurcher is as useless as the same motorbike without an engine. And that post is about as helpful as both! Its a bushing section, you know or you think you know.
