that's not even what I'm saying. Read what has been said. Lol. Not that you can't get them pregnant but the sperm count gets weaker so why stress the male for no reason? If you know what your doing you only need 3 ties. 1 every other day. And dog breeder that knows what there doing knows this.Trust me. If i was getting it that often, I wouldn't be stressed! The only thing that stresses me is having to pay for it,a fiver is hard come by.A fiver ? Where the fk do you live, Thailand? Pmsl Keighley,i try for a couple of quid when they are rattling but a fiver is often readily accepted.

Would that be the lurcher or its owner?.

Kill em when they breed and there is seldom much left, not having a pop mucker but if we hunt all season,as you do,something as to give.
-
The folk that sought the ban knew for a fact that they could spout shite and the ignorance of the populace would aid their endeavour.IF for a fleeting moment we hunters had the nous to play them at their own game the ban would never have been implemented. We hunters are such a fractious lot that we will never ever overcome the minority that play on the majority,s ignorance and stupidity.

If you own a dog that lacks what you desire what are you going to breed from at home?and why did it take you until the mutt was 18 months of age before you realised it lacked pace?.The ban for lurchers will never be lifted and a lurcher never needed to be 25tts to be an allrounder. If you can source a genuine allrounder that as no Collie in the mix you may waste another 18 months.

No digging terrier will come into its own until it has been entered on numerous occasions over the course of the season.Experience is the only gauge of a terriers working value and only then can true judgement be plausible. Each and every time a terrier gets dark and dirty it learns its trade a tad more and a season or two under its belt is a truer reflection of the tykes purpose.Throw some graft at the mutt and make your mind up when its had a season or 2 above it.

NO. you should have just explained to the old man that 2 terriers were never needed and you would go to the transport and get 1 single terrier and get the job done quick sharp! and be on ur way The old fella may have given you a wry smile and carried on in the knowledge that his knowledge was better than yours.Did his way work?.

Thats why folk should know the working temperament of their terriers and work and breed from them accordingly. It will not come as to much of a shock when it becomes evident the amount of folk that own them without the slightest idea.
-
That is such a naive statement.Ill defy the most gifted of folk that have spent a year or two in the game, especially those that have owned and honed Collie and Saluki infused runners,to state with honesty that these types have never caused them considerable grief at one,two three or an hundred times in their years with these type lurchers, the lessons learnt made them far better when entering the next, then the next and so forth.Even then, with all the experience in the world, its often possible to meet a turd that no amount of experience will polish.Anybody that states their expertise makes it s

So you are basically stating neither you nor your muckers have ever encountered a problem with the Saluki,s in the field, behave.

I believe folk are getting mixed up between entering 2 terriers in the same hole,or a small holding spot.Visit some of the rock piles that folk used to work,i say used to because not many terriers are suitable to enter the places that their breeding was originally intended for.You could enter a terrier at 1 location and another 50,60 or 100 yds further along a boulder strewn pile and get a better and quicker result. These locations where known to be the main holding spots in certain locations and were worked by many generations of better terriermen and terriers than are readily available now.Th

Working Bedlington Terrier
morton replied to rabbitman1234567's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Morton, if you want to double up. I thought the folk that have had mutts off me where pleased to own em,now i know they only rang for another because they needed two of them to get a job done.Im glad you pointed this out to me as i was thinking about getting rid of a spare pup i own and now i know i will need it to complement the other when working, cheers. -
Ill take you to a couple of places my shite works, you take one of your digging terriers and enter it and then stand there with your bar and grafter and ill come back a week later to see how deep your shovel got you or how many of the 2,3 and 4 tonne boulders, they are often the small uns, you have moved with your bars. You would come across as a tab more terrier educated if and when you get out of your comfort zone and throw a dog in where a digging terrier is left to its own devices,to graft away until it bolts or slays its fox.which will often be for a far longer period than the all conquering

All of Wales is stunningly beautiful.Park up and walk a few yards in Wales and you are nearly in eutopia, drive a few hundred miles further north above Carlisle and you reach gods country.

Many have taken bushing to a level thats incomprehensible to the forays we undertook as squabs.A decent bushing team will put more in front of a gun or lurcher than any other form of hunting activity and thats why a few of us recognise bushing as a lost art form than some recognise as the new way forward.the folk i know now that are attempting to re-invent the fecking wheel with their modern, often second rate, bushing crews.

When anybody mentions a Plummer in the same context as a Lakey im at a loss because is that what we have become now,its a fecking sad reflection on a Lakey when its sunk to the level of being comparable to a terrier that could not live in its shadow and thats a flying fact.In the not to distant past when terrierfolk knew their terriers a Black and Tan was a much sought after jukel as a working companion, the advent of the show and ribbon as lent that distinction to a far blacker mutt that was known to be a pale shadow of its tanner cousin. And both better than a Beddy hahaha Only joking.....

"you make your own rules" spot on mucker, thats how the majority of us earned our stripes and progressed.

I remember a Saluki bitch in Silsden in the early ,s,pure bred and a mutt that put a massive dent in the hare population in the vicinity, that stood at 32".The vast majority of pures and half crosses ive come across often pan out at about 25" for bitches. It would be of interest to know where a bitch of that size gained its pedigree.

Double knitted and double knotted and heavy spun nylon, one peg pegged will hold any fox,at times when its hard to hold a peg its better to own a net with two,so its best to be prepared.

A rodent that weighs a few ounce against a terrier that is capable of punching far, far, far above a terriers weight,as they are often expected to do,yep a lightweight rodent is the test of many a second rate terrier and comes far, far, far easier to any half decent terrier, seriously an 8 ounce rodent is supposed to be a tester for a terrier?.

My arse yor face.

It does not take much to sort the chaff from the wheat on here, keep it up and the only spade you need is to dig the hole you need to excavate you from your ignorance,id match my useless bushers with yours and there is a reason for that.
