I use .22 for the knock-down power it has on Rabbits. And .177 for the faster speed and greater penetration power it has, particularly for feather. Pianoman

Have a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY Si. Best wishes to you and Laura for a special day mate. Simon xx

Welcome back Marty. Hope you are mending well and enjoying getting back into your shooting. All the best. Simon

Cheers Darryl mate. As soon as I can get a day off in decent, windless weather to test and find the best light pellet. I'll be out working up with her! Just added my old Bushnell 4-14x50 SCOPECHIEF to her. What a fantastic difference to her balance. This 30-30 reticle scope is lethally precise and the best I have for bringing out the fullest accuracy in me, my rifle and pellet. I just wish Bushnell had never stopped making them. But at £350 ten years ago, they were a pricey scope! Cheers Darryl. Simon

Try RWS Superfields. They're pretty long, thin skirted Fry. Good quality-made pellet too! Best wishes. Simon

Great rifle! Have a look, ask questions. For that price it should be in very good to mint condition no rust on the metalworks and stock nice and tidy.

JAN 2013 MEET - NEW VENUE - ADD YOUR NAME
pianoman replied to Marksman's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Great! Now all we need is the link/address for Rochdale 18th 19th 20th January that tells anyone new here as to where the venue actually is! Plus any known times of when and what! And if you have spare room in your tent like we had camping on my permission Andy, I'll bunk with you if that's alright? I'll get us both there. Put me and Andy down. Simon -
June 2013 THL Airgun Section Shooting Meet
pianoman replied to zini's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Can we post this new venue/meet and details on a new thread? It's confusing to find specific info mixed with the old gen! -
I hope he and his family are alright Darryl. Shitty times don't last forever mate. Best wishes and kindest regards to you both lads. Simon

Thanks so much for this Si. It's put my mind at rest as far as possible damage is concerned. There is a bit of punch on firing them but I actually liked that! And the effect is rather like a well-running .22! I need to get these chrono'd to find how much they slow down performance. The rifle is doing 11.2 ft/lbs with JSB EXACT. Tuning will turn this HW97KT into a different animal anyway. I'll be talking to Tony tomorrow, Thursday. Thanks a lot Si for help here. Simon

71 quid! That's a bloody scandal!! You're the wrong colour mate. I'm sorry to hear this news Gary. I know what having no money and no job is like all too well dear lad. You won't be down for long. A good man like you will be back on top again soon; you'll see. All the best Gary to you and your family. Simon

According to a response I put on Weihrauch Owner's Forum, The heavy-for-calibre pellets DO cause excessive piston bounce which shortens the life of the spring. If it transpires that the only truly accurate pellet for my HW97KT is a heavy Bisley Magnum type round, and it takes a toll on springs but, doesn't damage anything else, I'm prepared to go through springs for it then! If a lighter pellet emerges as a superlatively accurate round, that's what Ill use instead. It can't be any other way really.

Hi Gary! It's good to see you back here mate. What have you got to shoot with? Best wishes Simon
-
Aw f*ck a Duck! You mean there could be internal damage using these Magnum pellets? The fit of the Bisleys in my 97's breech is rather tight. I'm not getting any sense of piston bounce when the piston drives compressing air against particularly loose or stiff-fitting ammo. You feel it as a sort of dull thudding recoil on firing, if the round is too heavy or stiff in the breech; even though the rifle may sound with a sharp report... The WEIHRAUCH MAGNUM tin has a pic of an HW77 spring rifle on the lid. You would think if these were PCP-only rounds, they would use a pic of an HW100? This mu

It might be an idea to let them try to return here. Let them post a few bullshit threads .... And get a bit more entertainment value, watching them get pounced on again! Pianoman

To be honest here, FAC air is a bit overated. I have an FAC and an HW80 .22 on it. The rifle is absolutely superb at around 21 ft/lbs power but, the only time the rifle wins out over sub-12ft/lb power is in the moments where a wary rabbit bolts in that split second the shot is fired. The .22 pellet from my HW80 hits faster than they can react in most cases, but not all. It certainly does not mean you can shoot to greater, further ranges with the certainty of a kill. Your fieldcraft, camouflage and concealment techniques should overcome that and get you closer to your quarry to effect a cle

The THL funded parcels reach Afghanistan
pianoman replied to Grayling's topic in General Airgun Discussion
You wouldn't think a Pot Noodle or a pack of Pringles and Cheddars could mean so much.... But it does. It is the knowledge that we at least do care about these lads and lasses that means all the world to them. Because, as those of us here who have served Her Majesty and YOU, her subjects and our nation with pride, honour and fortitude overseas, know only too well; that little bit of home, that little bit of knowing that someone back home is thinking of you and caring about your welfare...it is so powerful to morale. I am baffled by the actions of this officer prohibiting us from meeti
