Nice looking pup mud. What they crossed with?

Just putting the feelers out as I will be looking for a busher in the near future. Looking along the lines of a cocker x terrier but would consider most breeds off working parents. I would also look at a dog/bitch that is working already/needs bringing on and needs a decent working home but it would need to be 100% with kids and steady around ferrets, stock. I would also like to know your thoughts on having the following in the mix. Pros and cons. Beagle Springer Cocker I know the main thing with the terriers is them going to ground but I have worked with terriers that don't and s

Improving Your First Season Dogs

Had a check mid season as a mate was going up to see him anyway. Good shout and well worth doing if you can get to a decent bone man. -
Who's First Season Was It This Season?
white van man replied to Kieransingo's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I did see mate glad it's has been good to. Same here I'm still learning and will always be, watching people's dogs work pushed me to getting my own glad I have to be honest as he's come out just how I wanted still won't come to my side when catches rabbits for another dogs around maybe cause he don't want it near his catch? When it's just me an him he does though perfect on his own It will be a big ask if there are other dogs there, especially if he has had one stolen from him. I go out with other dogs but if mine catches I walk away from the others a good 20 meters and quietly call him in for -
Improving Your First Season Dogs

Yep think most dogs could do with that at the end of the season. He gets the best of grub and hasn't been pushed too much so has only had a few knocks. -

Just put a post up about mine. That's the first season nearly done. Now I'm really going to start looking at how to improve me and my dog for next! Glad you enjoyed your first season with your dog. Nothing better than getting out with your own runner. ATB. -
Well the end of the season will soon be here for me and Blue less a couple of ferreting trips and a bit of lamping. To be honest he has done more than ok for his first season. He has lamped well and is beginning to steady right up when ferreting. He is good around the house and with other dogs. I think sometimes I have expected too much from him so most of the mistakes I will put down to myself. Silly slips being one of them!! I have been lucky to be invited out with some good lads off here and this has brought Blue on no end. My only big worry is with our bond. Out of the lurchers I have

A Little Update At 3 1/2 Months...
white van man replied to Snifferboy's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Seen these pups from a week old. They had the best start in life and it was good to see them going to good homes. Was out mooching with D and his dogs at the weekend. His pup penny was let off the lead for a bit and she could shift!! Looking forward to seeing your dads dog mate. -
I have one of Dais lamps and as said its a good piece of kit. Tried it with a filter and it is fairly dull but ok for a quick scan of a field. Will be making my own when I get some red film and see how it goes. Got myself a petzl taktika head torch that I use when out for getting over fences etc and that has the option of a red or white light depending on what you are doing.

I would have checked it wasn't in the back of the truck before I went into the woods Jai! Nice bit of work there. ATB.

Cracking. Good to see the hounds out on that type of ground! ATB

Depends where in Wales too. I was that way yesterday. I'm not a dog transporter but would have picked up and dropped off for a bit of petrol money.

I will tell you but only if I can visit!! Will get my old man to look into it D. We have just done all this for getting his dogs to Oman.
-
Well done and good on you for sticking with it!! Onwards and upwards. ATB

I gut them walshie but that's because I will do it whilst fishing and then freeze so I have a stock for winter. My dog has at least 2-3 a week.
-
Brill stuff lads. Gutted I couldn't make it. Cracking pics as always from Sean. Kev I can't believe you still get the lads to take that Coke machine on your outings.
-
The rabbits we got that day would have just been a snack for her Kev!! Good to see that a litter of this size found good homes and are doing well. Good on haymin for bringing on all those pups until they found homes. ATB

Nice bull x that mate, he looks good. See a few other posts were he's been mentioned, sound like you've done a good job Cheers Joe. He's been good so far. There's a few lads on here I also have to thank for that though.

First class dog that, retrieves pots before licking them, tries to hump anything with a pulse and pisses all over his own legs.... Just like his Dad That's why he's been fairly easy to train!!

Pics of Blue from this week

Same with this one. He hates being left on his own!! Work wise he is doing well and is a cracking pet. Can't fault his temperament either.
-
Good to see him doing well Joe. How are you finding him? His brother is coming on well. I met up with dean and had a walk out with the litter sister and mum. Blue has a different build and a fairly big head compared to them. People always ask me how much bull is in him!! ATB

Is Devon Good For Lamping And Ferreting?
white van man replied to smokey-one's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Nothing down here.....was thinking of moving to Surrey instead!! -
I k ow what you mean I have a stronger bond with my older dog which never seems to get on my nerves and just seems to do everything right but the pup will test your patience, and when I meet up with a Freibd for a lamp or mooch he gets real excited and sort of over powering where some dogs have went for himWell next season they should have settled down!!
