  1. Hopefully height, weight and a good coat ( and a lot of beddy lurchers have appalling linty coats) but for some folk it's a question of the bull/grey adding a bit of something to the deer/grey rather than the other way round.
  2. keep the beam in front of the rabbit , I'll leave it there also getting a bit boring lol Exactly, same as dipping your headlights in the car.
  3. Or Topdog1. He seems to know how to get the job done too.
  4. Looks a pacey animal, what's the percentages?dog is,half x bull-grey to a full deerhound then I put him over my bull to produce the young bitch atb mud Interesting, I'm surprised he came smooth coated with one parent a full deerhound. I've never heard of a 1st cross deer/grey coming smooth so maybe the finer coat from the bull made the difference. Very nice type By the way.
  5. Mossy's mother, Fruitcake, was very good at moorhens too. She could smell them when they were underwater and would feel around with a front paw 'til she pinned them down then stick her whole head underwater to take them from under her "hand". I tried to get Ashy to do this but although he could scent well he never "got" that. He did catch a few moorhens but never that way. Once I spotted one underwater, holding onto grass I think. Stationary anyway. I got him over it but he just didn't seem to get the scent off the water surface. I ate a lot of moorhens back then but they were very common ther
  6. As said above, cats have no trouble killing rabbits, including the one I have now. I think that almost any cat can learn it as long as there're a few rabbits about. I've known a small female cat to regularly kill rabbits that were almost as big as itself to feed kittens and when I worked in a petfarm next to Clonakilty agricultural college, the yard cats from the college used to grab quite big pet rabbits and run up 8 feet of chainlink fence with screeching rabbit in mouth. Cats are great hunters if they get a chance and my own neutered tom regularly leaves a full sized rat, sometimes 2, on t
  7. I had a dog pup from Mick back in the early 80's I think or could have been late 70's. I was living in Lincs. at the time and didn't have a car, so thumbed it to Great Yarmouth and got a train to Berney arms, as instructed by letter from Mick. When the train pulled off I was stood on an empty platform in the middle of a steaming nowhere. If you've been there you'll know what I'm talking about. I had directions in the letter but still got lost and spent a couple of hours walking over planks and across marsh and past windmills before finally finding the place. I was made welcome for the night
  8. Always charge it straightaway after using it. It'll prolong the life. Any 12v charger will charge it, but the slower the charge, the better it'll be for the battery, so trickle charge it.
  9. FFS Dave calm down Right or wrong, does it really matter that much??? It's only the internet and unless you take Jim up on his offer of a night out you'll probably never ever meet him, so what does it matter?
  10. Good luck with that one!!!!! Once people start hammering a place you won't get them to stop. Once the word gets out you won't get it back in. When you find a good place for hunting or fishing the best thing is to shut up about it...... Completely, not even any hints, that's my experience anyway. ...and dont go upsetting land agents Y.I.S Leeview Except when it's unavoidable.
  11. I saw these on donedeal in Kildare. http://www.donedeal.ie/dogs-for-sale/lurcher-pups/10816464?offset=14 If I had room for a pup I'd be driving up there to check them out.

  13. You're lucky you don't live in Ireland. By the time postage was added it converted to 50 euro on paypal.
  14. Well Geordies were allways better hunters than the Scots anyway surely.
  15. Hate to split hairs Jim but as a Northumbrian I have to say Corbridge and Hexham are in Northumberland Durham's South of the border.
  16. Buried a few myself mate. You don't forget them but I hope the new pup works out well for you. I too remember him from colliecurs. ATB
  17. Cheers Giro, I'm perfectly conversant with the ins and outs of electronic sign up, and in fact most things to do with computers and the web. I just don't like Facebook and never have . I could ask where AWL have been for the last 10 years but on the positive side I'de rather support them, and will!! I'm living in Ireland now but happy to donate a pittance and hope it does some good. Cheers for the effort you've put in Giro.
  18. Giro, I'm not on facebook and not going to be... Can I join another way mate???
