  1. She might yet do no 4 on your list though she'll need to learn how. Mines not keen on killing foxes either. She'll bowl them over, grab their tail and generally play about. I don't mind that too much either as foxes aren't my thing. Only want what I can eat.
  2. If I was 20 or 30 years younger I might think about that but in a week or two I'll be 60 so I just want to carry on with what I do as long as possible. Not mess around starting a line and having to test half a dozen youngsters to see what's worth breeding from.
  3. More than just a dash might defeat the object. You could end up with something too slow to catch anything that needs a big dog.
  4. Has your lad still got the hancock pup?No gaz, the hancock got nerve damage in its front leg after running into a tree whilst daytime bushing, hit the shoulder severing the nerve, shame but bred off non-workers they seem to not be able to take the rough and tumble of hard work, PTS and another now buried in my garden next to his other hancock, neither lived longer than 18 months and he will not get anymore of my families money again, look-a-like lurchers they should be named, LOL's, WMSorry to hear that.Hope has better luck with this one. Pups a belter. ye because it was a Hancock and not work

  6. What kind of bull blood was in the bully stag and can you post any pictures mate. I'm interested in the idea of putting a bit of bull in and would like to see how they might shape up. Any foot problems after introducing bull blood?
  7. Things are starting to get like that in my daytime places now but I just put it down to time of the season and the game becoming educated. I've discovered a couple of new places that were good for a run the first couple of visits but then became a lot harder and I always think out approach and so on the night before. I usually look at wind direction on "windguru" then get up "Google earth" to plan my route so it usually differs from my last visit if possible. The rain has certainly had an effect on things. A couple of weeks ago I watched the big bitch work one out of a forestry block and run
  8. Just watch the movie "Straw Dogs" and you'll get the idea.
  9. If you want a dog that can catch then the entering is as important as fitness. Hopefully you hunt an area where there're plenty of them. It sounds unsporting but the young dog needs every chance so it's best to start in July to August time, running threequarter grown leverets so the dog has a chance and can come to believe it can catch any hare. Run it two or three times a week but not to exhaustion if you can help it. Whenever it gets one go straight home. If all goes well the dog should become very commited and you might want a stapler and a good vet because with open hedges and barbed wire
  10. he must of got threw a lot of dogs if that was his theory, in fact he must of got rid of every dog he ever had because no dog can do that all the time and there never will be Very true. I'd say it was just a figure of speech meaning a fast dog with a good mouth.
  11. You'll have to get one of those gay looking saluki crosses like Darcy has.
  12. After watching a certain police vid involving a 4WD and bull crosses I have to say it may not help much.
  13. There're probably as many shit bull crosses around as there are collie crosses and lads with good lines of bull cross are often too tight to stud them out outside their own circles so that's not going to get any better anytime soon.
  14. The fractions are far less important than WHICH collies and which greyhounds are used. Any greyhounds should be full distance rather than sprint dogs and should have had a reasonably injury free career and collies are even more important to get right as they vary so much in temperament, courage and drive. All in all you'd be better looking for a pup bred from two time served collie lurchers which have worked for a few seasons without baulking. You just missed a good litter on here and you'd do well to wait for the right ones as a good collie lurcher can be very good but bad ones can be exa
  15. One of mine ate a whole salami when left in the car outside a pub with a bag of shopping. She drank a lot too.
  16. Dogs do love it but the salt in ham's not too healthy for them so I don't feed it much. Maybe just the odd small bit as a treat. I've no problems feeding raw pork though, as long as it's been frozen for a week or so first.
  17. Electrical tape is great stuff but it's not good for wrapping around anything (legs paws, tail etc.) unless you're VERY careful not to stretch it. If you put it on with even the least bit of stretch it gets tighter with every turn and will cut off the circulation.
  18. Do you actually know this Dave or are you repeating gossip? Genuine question as I'd like to know if you really know it first hand.
  19. Never thought I'd hear Mr Plummer slagging off Hancock. I don't think this is who you think it is..!! Brian Plummer your thinking aren't you?? This is very unlikely to be the fairytale writer Brian Plummer cos he died in 2003. I think everyone knows that.
  20. Never thought I'd hear Mr Plummer slagging off Hancock. I don't think this is who you think it is..!! Brian Plummer your thinking aren't you?? Are you serious? You're saying it's not him then?
  21. The crack is mighty (as DB said in another thread, not a euphemism)
