Brilliant stuff well worth a read this, -
I fancy ago at making one,but have no real idea of what parts are needed,or the best parts to get, they do interest me I must admit,

What kind of range, do you get with this set up mate,??

Bet the lads follow up dog's knackered by end of hunt,

How do you find ELEY's,I havn't tried them for about ten yr, and they used to be very waxy and leave a lot of powder residue, that's why I went off them, have they sorted that ?????? ELEY's seem to have improved but then I tend to give my rifles regular cleaning sessions so never notice massive build ups like that mate. I clean mine regularly too, at the time I was shooting a lot of rabbits and found the residue very gritty, and used to stick to the wax from the bullet heads that was left in the magazine and action,I can't remember it causing any big problems just inconvenient when the other

We have reasonable numbers, they are a lot more wide spread instead of little pockets,as yet the dreaded mixy, no sign, here's hoping they wont be,

Nah. Don't have an FAC. Besides in my county for fox, you have to have CF, usually .223 min, even on 1st grant. For the numbers of rabbits I shoot, I'd probably use a .223 as an all round gun. If numbers became an issue, then yep I'd take a HMR as a 2nd gun over a .22 any day, unless I was shooting near housing at night. A few cracked cases and for some it becomes the devils spawn. Personally I don't see it. The superior range make the HMR a very nice little tool for small pest control. Every calibre has an achilles heal and .22 is far from perfect - low power, limited range and a tend

Semi auto's can be particular about what you use regards cycling, I have had two anschutz semi's the old one loved Winchester subs the last one was not that accurate with any,it was best with something called magtech if I remember rightly,so I went back to bolt action, and to be fair it handles most stuff, but If walshie is getting reasonable results with HV CCI rounds I might give them ago what gun you using walshie,

I have been using RWS sub's of late and like them, I get good group's in my CZ however In other 22's I have used Winchester subs and got on well with those,I have tried cci and many others including ELEY and didn't get the results I wanted, I have often thought about trying HV rounds, and have tried to odd box some yrs ago, but was always cautious of loosing the real advantage subs give which is obviously the reduced noise, the other problem with 22 rounds in general is supply, there's few people up here hold a reasonable amount of stock,so to try different types is often counter productive, as

Is "against Corvid Traps" Breaking The Law?
3175darren replied to CharlieSlade's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
At he end of the day these things have to be controlled, and one live trap is the same as another as in you don't see them complaining about live catch rat traps,/mouse traps,They are at war with us, and will attack every thing we do in every way they can, tormented by there own emotion's,unable to rationalize why we can't see things there way,Larsen traps are an important method of vermin control, and every effort is made by the trapper to provide for the welfare of the call bird, what could be better, they need to get on with there own lives and move on from what they think is cruel, and understa -

Coward, that's all you could call him no respect he wants some of his own medicine . Trouble is the law will protect him now he will have more rights than us,

The funny thing is that four or five days ago there were hardly any elderflowers out here. I put two lots of beer on and suddenly there are elderflowers everywhere! The beer is flying away, so hopefully I'll have some brewing space in a few days. I'm also looking forward to making some elderberry wine later in the year. Anyone else do a bit of brewing? I've just helped Hampshire Wasp get set up for cider; this thread has reminded me that I must ring him and see how it's going. I used to love brewing but i spent a lot of time running all over the spot with my work, and it all f

I've got to agree dogs are sold for silly money ! working dogs to working people either gifted to men that are gonna work them or if a spare for a working mans price. Can I ask , when you was breeding your labs and spaniels did you sell any for the price of feed and a pint ? I gave two away to young beaters out of my last two litters,4 in total I gave away, they are not the only pups I gifted to people, and I charged £ 250 for dogs £300 for bitches the rest of the time and was never left with a pup, more often than not people came back each time I bred, anyway that's the way of the world th

Good looking little terrier's as well WXM, The price of dogs has gone mad I am looking now around for a decent little terrier, ideally a Russel and cant believe the prices they go for, when I think of the favors I have done people, but since I moved I have lost contact with them, back then Russel's were a very reasonably priced dog and a valuable addition to any working kennel,I spent too long breeding labs and spaniels, and lost track of the terrier men I know, and that was a mistake as most were sound blokes, who would take enough to cover there pups feed, and a bit for a pint, job done and if

My lad does it sometimes, not often and I love to see it as he tries to guess which way the rabbit will bolt,he does really well with it.

Harris Hawk Catching And Killing Foxes??????
3175darren replied to Warwick Huntacre's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
You know what,if I could understand Mongolian I would love to spend a week in there company,it would probably be a holiday of a lifetime, and I can tell you what, you would learn more in a week with them, than a life time in this country, its amazing to see birds used to such a purpose, and to such affect, with an adversary that fought back and didn't just give up,as I said above I know nothing much about this subject, but the skill and dedication behind it is commendable without doubt,
