A lot of drives have a game crop like maize where that holds the birds along with the hoppers

Because I'd only use over trousers or chaps a couple times a year and I wanted the warmth and comfort of the moleskins but waterproof

I bought a pair of £15 moleskins a month or two ago for beating and shooting and I was wondering if I could waterproof them at home (or at least stop them soaking up the water) with some Nikwax fabric and leather proof? Rather than buying a pair of over trousers which I wouldn't wear all that often. Also it is applied with the sponge on type of dabber thing. Cheers in advance

Holly or hawthorn is supposed to be really good if you can find a long enough straight piece, I usually just use hazel because I can't be arsed scanning the hedgerows for the really tough but usually quite crooked lengths of wood

I not completely sure but on the estuaries and lakes and rivers they sometimes use large mesh cylinders with one end blocked (a bit like a waste paper bin) and it is anchored but floats which then has reeds or straw and stuff in for them to lay in ect

Mora are made of carbon steel and I've found to keep their edge really well

I find that the majority of farms have pheasant shoots taking place on their land and if you also offer to beat for them as well and help keep on top of pests it works well

I think that ladds would be the best much more personal service, and if there's any problems or issues afterwards then they'll try their hardest to correct it.

I saw probably about a dozen in a holly bush recently, there's loads of them red berries about now

What was the weather like when you were beating? I was out on Thursday beating and we were going round with our checked shirts and sleeves rolled up, so warm!

It is predominantly done for reduction of foxes, rabbits, squirrels, rats, hares and mice but with the rabbits and hares it is also done for the meat

I've shot one like this before but it was an old male so I think it was fighting with the other rabbits

I usually do a little slice along the belly horizontally then stick the end of blade and push up, I did have problems with fur and stuff being stuck in the mechanism of my lock knife but since I changed to mora it's so sharp and easy
