  1. Enjoyed that write up mate, must be nice to see how the pups progress.
  2. All day yesterday it blew a gale loads of cloud bit of rain, perfect I thought............. but At 8 30 as we set off accross the fields there was not a breath of wind, the sky was clear as a bell with a sliver of moon out....... it's always the way. My young bitch managed 5 , ran a some new fields last night with 1 cow field holding a few rabbits, she had 2 out of here. Had a look in some big stubble fields at the end of the night which had few in them, left them for a better night.

    Bagman

I was a very happy bag man from a young age ( although I couldn't carry much), I was absolutely guted this year when Dave, who I walked hundreds of miles with from around 6 years old, passed away. I would happily be a bagmn tomorrow for another walk out.
  4. Good write up mate, love watching th dogs around the cover, sounds like your 2 work it well.
  5. Good luck lads, it's gonna be wet weather gear as well, it's hammering down here now. Your right carp man, no moon, loads of wind and a bit of rain it drags you out of the door. It's funny how most people think your mad to get exited about bad weather.
  6. All set for tonight, lamps charged, blowing a gale, dogs ready can't wait to get out. Meeting at 8 on another new bit so hoping for a few bunnies later. Good luck to any one out tonight
  7. Good clip mate, Is that JD chasing after the dog and herd at the end
  8. Nice one mate looks a decent night
  9. Had one similar mate, was at a little party at my brothers house and the missus was doing my head in we had a bit of a row i sai F*ck this I'm going out for a walk with the dog. Had my lamp in the van so grabbed that and the dog and walked up over the back fields and kept walking onto land I had never seen before until I was completely lost. I had left the party at around 11-30 and finally found my way back at 5 in the morning after a constant yomp, I ended up coming onto a road I knew about 3 miles from his house.
  10. You should also remeber the type of land your running as far as big or small catches, my young dog makes a lot of catches along the hedge line if it's harder for the rabbit to get in ( sheep fence, walls, thick bramble ect) it works in the dogs favour obviously. Obviously you need to have the rabbits there in the first place, as bosun said as long as she tries her best for me I go home happy.
  11. This ha got to be a wind up lads no ones stupid enough to walk a 9 WEEK old pup for a couple of miles and take it lamping..............................................................................................................are they :hmm:
  12. Love this look of lurcher mate, old fashioned proper lurcher. Lovely looking dogs
  13. Cheers lads Maximus: didn't know that mate, there's loads of rabbits on this bit so no wonder they want rid, it'll be a few weekends with the ferrets now. Hi Bill Martha done 6, my bros pup hasn't completely got running down the beam yet and alot of the slips were quite long as it was so still you had to slip early. We got up to a couple of sitters for her and she ran the 1 she caught well. She's learning though and retrieves better thn mine wich is doing my head in ATB kev
  14. Got out last night for a walk around a new bit of permission which is a big free range chicken farm, we were taken around by the farm manager who was a top bloke. It was a good little walk and the first set of fieds around the hen houses held a lot of rabbits, it wasn't great conditions no wind at all, but we managed 6 out of the first 4 fields. We walked up up onto some arable land which he told us was shot over by a couple of lads on quads. You could tell nothing like the first bit as soon as the lamp went on the rabbits were gone. We managed another 1 and that was it for the night. It was
  15. You've got to choose your words carefully on the lurcher section that's for sure,
  16. Been lucky recently in knowing the right people to get me on some permision. Done a couple of trips with the ferrets and picked up another 3 farms off the back of it, gonna have a walk on 1 of them tonight. I tend to ask for the ferreting first and push for the lamping after, even so 1 farm I've got close to me I've known the bloke for 15 years or so and he will only let me ferret on it still, I've not give up on the idea yet though, a few peolple who "lamp" give everyone a bad name.
  17. Tell the truth Johnny, thats you and ideation warming up before a day out ferreting

Cheers for the repies lads. Wilf : I agree exeter's worse than a piss hole, but it aint a bad part of the world to live in Scot : loads of fire work displays on nov 5th, but they used to do a big display off the top of debenhams when they turned the christmas lights on, F*ck all this year though Littlefish: Normally there's a christmas tree, don't know this year think tere's no money in the kitty, the goverments got beter things to spend it's money on Long tail: Forget the posh areas mate the council estates are the best place for decent decorations, most of the families a
  21. Used to catch scoolies in the tidal exe when eel fishing ( long way up the river too) but nothing as big as that, bet that was a nice shock. Also had 3 sea trout on stick float and maggot ( 2 in one sesion), and lost a cracking salmon which I hooked on a 18 hook and maggot had it on for about 2-3 mins and chased it down river in waders as it was going mad and jumping clean out of the water, one of those fish that got away but I remember like yesterday. The tidal Exe was my favourite stretch of water for a lot of years
