Newkid, that is a great post. And most of it is what the 'relentless one', greb, is saying. Hamilton is probably the best F1 driver of all time. And as your brother will probably tell you, it's not to do with being in the fastest car. The levels of fitness, reaction/thinking times etc etc, needed just to keep one of those cars on the track, would leave the likes of probably all of us on here looking more than a bit silly.

I like lewis hamilton as an F1 driver. Think he's f****n brilliant. Whatever he does away from F1, I couldn't give a flying f**k about.

A bit nuts really lol. Years ago, and I'm talking about 1980, a mate of my old man's that owned a welsh and english springer, just for rabbiting , told me when I bumped into him one mornining, with said dogs, when I was out with my whippet and lurcher, 'you're using the wrong dogs for round ere'. It was about 8 am, and he'd already caught 3 rabbits, no ferrets, and I had none. Didn't really think too much about it really, til maybe the last few years. He was completely correct lol.

Mad that really. My old man's ex neighbour used to own a really racy springer dog, about 19-20" tts, never worked, but I was busting to try him lol, and an ex mate of mine used to own a racy cocker bitch of no more than about 14.5" tts lol. Like you say though, to me, a spaniel is a spaniel. And as I get older, they are appealing to me more than a running dog, for work. ?

Might seem an obvious question here B H, but if this fella wanted a spaniel to excel with woodcock, wouldn't a cocker spaniel, a breed specifically bred for woodcock, have been a better prospect? And before you dismiss my question, I've seen a fair few cockers that are fairly big and strongly built. Was over 35 years ago mind lol. I worked on two estates as a trainee keeper lol ?

Went on the 'battlefield tour' with my old man in 2012. Being at the menin gate while the last post is performed is something I can't put into words. The feeling, after two days of cold and damp, visiting cemetaries, mememorials and museums, walking through parts of the actual trenches, reading letters and notes etc to family and loved ones, that the troops didn't get chance to send off, and then listening to the last post, is something that will stay with me forever.
