poxon replied to Paddy360's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Using a 170 variable copy called a predator with 22amp lithium battery I prefer halogen I like the orange tinged light ive had the battery I think it’s it’s 10th season this season it cost me £220 brand new think the same battery is £310 now ?I think the lithium battery depreciate year by year you have to keep em fully charged you have to maintain them properly or the charge rate becomes crap an outlet amp get lower. My mates use LED lamps I personally struggle to see the Center of the beam the lites to clear for my eyes but good for burning down fields with rays of clear light when a run s -

My opinion is worker to worker bred out of honest dogs that can do what’s required with a bit of age on there side preferably I don’t know if it’s write or wrong but works for me. -
Crazy what proper diet and exercise does for a dog..
poxon replied to 3dumb's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I feed mine 75/25% raw an biscuits or 25% table scraps it works well for me I always have my dogs in good nick I’ve only a couple of dogs these days so feeding cost ain’t that bad for me one that I’m on top of what her intake is as she’s my only worker the other is a retired bitch she can eat what she likes an surf what sofa she likes. I think raw feed prices are going through the roof it’s a bit of a joke tbh . I personally don’t think raw feeding is that cost effective as it once was. I think I’m pretty lucky I get a couple of fallen mutton and about 200 lambs worth of lungs, liver, kidneys,he -

Brown bread I’m guessing that’s for carbs like us humans to much carbs turns to fat fat is an can be turned to energy an can be burnt an turned to muscle the protein helps suspend an repair and build muscle sort of makes sense i used to know a guy that used to feed pasta an tripe when trying to keep his bull xs in condition it was done as a extra meal to keep weight on them because he’d run the shit out of them so they started looking like a rspca case this type of meal makes sense as a bulker but not if your trying to cut a dog in shape that’s fat chicken as got to be the best or fish -

tripe is a part of a mix varied diet ain’t it you wouldn’t be feeding just tripe an expecting good results like a dog to be in fine fettle from one ingredient you know your self socks a dog needs to be built not just fed one thing an expecting in in condition some dogs as you know won’t muscle as well as others as genetics play there part -

Heard on the radio this morning there trying to get it in parliament very sneaky how there doing it….there trying to push through because of theft of dogs it won’t be classed as theft of goods no more it’ll be classified as something I can’t remember the word they used but because it’s a owned living being but the minute I heard what they said straight away I was like that’s hunting with dogs f****d as it means even with poaching some else’s land as then animals are owned an a living being….all sneaky sneaky how they can push one law through for one thing but it covers another thing
-
Smart them mate
-
Just read it fella they received intelligence ?….probably not that intelligence as it was more than likely the dude grassed himself up looking for fame in the hunting world posting shit every we’re for the clout ??

It’s funny ain’t it we’re conditioned to believe we can’t be without a phone….or should I say tracking device! ironic the same device can be a blessing or a curse if the user gets sloppy….

Know of 3 people that use beddy crosses on shoots for picking up birds an retrieving other stuff 2 get on here from time to time I think the 3rd lad gets on here as well but don’t know his user name his profession is gun dog trainer there all on shoots that were anti lurcher no Lurchers allowed one of the guys even turned the keeper in to a lurcher man? think some of these keepers are stubborn feckers all they see is the shit an put there guard up tbh I don’t blame em to be honest

Sorry tank I shouldn’t of commented on your post mate . That does sound stupid though don’t it a man that’s a employee an trained an uses gun dogs the employer has no trust or confidence in him or his dog training to be using a rabbit dog for rabbits there concerned there trusting employee is going to use his little rabbit dog to go after hare an deer.
-
Tell the guy to grow a pair an get a beddy cross tank lol no point in being a fanny wanting a lurcher but not wanting a lurcher it don’t make no sense being a fanny to keepers or being dictated to by keepers on what fecking dog he can own??If it’s for pest control nets an a straight spaniel can an will be effective enough if it’s for sport then he needs a running dog.

Man made viruses ,predictors we’ve had numbers dropping for about the last 10yrs here in the uk. In a lot of places in the uk a dog just bred for rabbit work can hardly be called a rabbit dog these days there’s still some places in the uk the further up north you go still holds decent numbers but as you come down the uk the number decline to nearly nothing to the odd hot spot

Nice dogs mate hope they do well for ya ?? -
Ive kidded my self loads over the years hanging on to dogs to the point my gaff was busy with dogs kicking about that I expected more from an hopped That things would come good it never did (them days are long gone) .love for them used to get in the way This is the type of man an I am or have become a dog has a mental contract with me for life it has a home for life with the promise of the sofa if it makes old bones with all the care an food it needs throughout its life but to get that mental contract it has to audition first…. You will be giving the best of the best to preform to your best

I’m a believer in a dogs first season is the deal breaker if that dog is a keeper and your friend or not. I’m a believer in building a dog up steady an giving it fair cop making the dog believe it’s the best thing since sliced bread to hit the field to prove its capabilities by the end of that first season in your head your know if it’s not gunner make what you want long term some times sooner . there’s no room for soppy shit or kidding your self that the dog will make what you want if you know in your head that it’s not already!
