  1. Ive had the same thing happen in the past. Now I clear as little as possible just so I can thread some long nets through. I think when you do a big clearance the rabbits abandon the warren.
  2. Animal thefts are getting worse every season. Ive beefed up my security big time lately. Hope you get them back, if not someone on the site might still have some kits.
  3. Ive only tried it once didn't go to well tbh but I want to give it another go.
  4. Me to joe. And I don't have many warrens where I cant dig, 2 out of my 3 stick until I dig to them assuming the rabbits still alive the other one will stick for a while not to long. The one that doesn't stick to long Im thinking about taking moonlight ferreting.
  5. There was a lot of vans broken into in my town a few years back, everyone knew who it was no one could prove anything. These ferrets thefts are getting a bit worrying Im already locked up tight but Im going to go and buy alarms cctv etc at some point. iworkwhippets do you have any suspicions who took your ferrets? hope you get them back.
  6. Its always handy to have a ferret that doesn't stick for warrens where you cant dig.
  7. Id love to see some underground footage. Im sure someone said Simon Whitehead was going to market the cameras at some point.
  8. They will survive on their own but theyre happier with company.
  9. Ive heard they do but you need to recalibrate the depth.
  10. 2 jills or a pair of castrated hobs imo. I wouldn't keep them alone personaly.
  11. Nice shooting. Drives me mad when I cant retrieve something Ive shot.
  12. The police would probably only attend if the landowner calls them. Ive often had the police pass me on my way home when Ive got a dozen or so rabbits on me (sometimes from permission sometimes not) and they've never once stopped to ask me where Ive been ferreting.
  13. Exactly the same happened to me norseman, that's how I got my best permission. If you do poach it can pay to be polite if you get caught
  14. Im very slow at making nets but I only make them for my own use so it doesn't matter realy, as long as the end product is top quality its worthwhile.
  15. Ive only tried once and it was an epic failure. I think Ill give it another go this season though.
  16. Double knot for me to on spun poly braided nylon and once on 10z nylon (never again). I hear you can use a single knot in spun poly but I thought it best to be sure.
  17. Ive had loads of gear from agouti although nothing for about a year, never had a problem.
  18. Only had one decent frost in my area and it didn't make much of a dent in the cover tbh. Was out yesterday and Ive got that many nettle stings on the back of my hands that theyre still buzzing now, all part of the game I suppose. Bring on the cold weather.
  19. I don't have a photo of mine but Ill describe it for you. Its 6 foot long heavily padlocked alarmed surrounded by electrified razor wire and theres a pissed off Doberman sitting on top of it. Dylan it was probably a genuine question but you cant be to careful, seems every other week someone on here gets their ferrets or dogs nicked.
  20. Old clothes make the best bedding imo.
  21. Scumbags they need a good kicking.
  22. No croutons though I had a ferret choke to death on croutons.
  23. My ferrets get mainly rabbit through the ferreting season and part way through the summer then pigeons squirrels corvids and the odd rabbit anything I can knock over with my air rifle realy. If you don't shoot then you could use dry food during the summer.
  24. As said above theres a good chance hes killing them quik and moving on. Another possibility is theres nothing home, Ive ferreted warrens that look brilliant crap everywhere and well used holes and nothing then on other occasions Ive ferreted warrens full of leaves and bolted a few.
  25. Take a look at the ferret rehoming thread you might get lucky and find one local to you. If your ferret has a good prey drive she will soon catch on on her own, just keep dropping her into small warrens.
