  2. well put riohog and by the way the pups are starting to look like crackers fingers crossed.
  3. as Chalkwarren said a good judge dont take notice of scars either way just cos its marked up dont mean its any good as a worker same as it doesn effect dogs conformation orlooks to a experienced eye however has someone posted shaved bald patches while healing might with all other things being equel between two good dogs .
  4. inan is right you can only judge what is in front of you on the day the fact is it could be a top class worker in fact worldclass or the worst hunting dog to ever draw breath but the fact is you will never know by examining it in a showring. all you are doing is picking out what in your opinion is the best looking conditioned dog on the day and if you do that with a honest heart and opinion you have done a good job and all you can do .one point i would like to make is the showing side is gone a bit ott in my opinion at the midland in the championship i dont think there was a dog in there with
  5. nice type of running dog for the longears .
  6. as a lot have said it isnt up to much .ime being polite here but dont blame the writers whose hands are tied in what they can write about.going back to skycat penny taylor i have hunted quite a bit with her and believe me when i say she lives the life and walks the walk . her dogs can work along side the best and willnot be outshone or discraced .why is it that people who do not know someone make assumptions about other people and their dogs when they havnt got a clue .ime not alone on this site in being the only one that has been hunting coursing with penny and its funny how we all feel the
  7. anyone who gets in there regardless of whethertyou like them or who their with dererves respect of the upmost . it takes heart and guts
  8. you should always pick what you think is best lurcher on the day for looks condition conformation and presence and should be looking at a blank canvass anything you know about the lurcher work or otherwise should never come in to your thoughts when picking your winner on the day .
  9. is that one of roly butlers pups by any chance .
  10. the best lurcher i have ever owned had a massive prey drive and her litter of pups inherited this as well i would go as far as to say ive never seen a lurcher come near her for prey drive and ive had them all my life .she took all prey large and small it didnt matter what i ran her on she was 23tts but a heart like a lion even when the chips were down she was a timid bitch around other dogs but on any game only had one gear .she caught hares on the fens daytime and large stuff all over the country and never took a backward step in fact she was to brave for her own good when coursing on salis
  11. at the end of the day it was posted in the gamefair and show section so cant see anything wrong with it its their dogs and they pay for their keep so can do what they want. nothing wrong with getting enjoyment out of your dogs summer and winter and it was racing they were on about . well done to them i say .
  12. genuine first cross saluki x with a greyhound will alwys come out smooth every time had a litter of 10 all smooth 5 months old now .
  13. £17.00 to get in and lurchers way way from anything else complete rip off bonus is the coursing crew who ran the lurcher events can certainly run a good show. trying to get out was a nightmare over a hour to get out of the show this really needs sorting .the midland itself was good i thought with plenty to see and some good ofers on but overall its a ripoff and time they sorted it out .
  14. your right boys was there today and £17.00 entry is a rip off plus the showing is way from the other action went for a walk round and missed most of the showing really not good enough plus side the coursing crew who ran the showing really know how to run a show .one thing i noticed in the champion of champion final i dont think one dog had a traditional collar and lead they all had poncy leads like the kennel club show people use and walking rounds their vans most had all the brushes combs and show gear . i really enjoy the odd show and do a fair bitof judging but even i agree now its going a
  15. looks a right cracker mate lots of jealousy about in the dog world .
  16. flapping is a dying sport tracks closing every year flapping is unlicenced greyhound racing exactly the same as normal racing but without all the red tape just bought a little bitch that would pass for a big whippet tiny little thing cracking race record though check her out on data rushmore bonnie .
  17. the word tradition is used a lot when hunting ban is talked about remember other countries have their traditions some a lot older than ours .we all go on about people who know nothing about it wanting to ban our pastimes well pot and kettle comes to mind .?
  18. god theres some shit spouted on here lately .
  19. why do all good threads?posts start off great and end up in a slanging match.ruins a great topic .
  20. r.i.p. mick proper dogman met him years ago at lambourn .
  21. colonel believe me the dogs i mentioned caught big numbers reguarly in mid winter when hares were at their strongest myself and plenty otheres saw it and in fact a few members on here as well and all these hares were given a fair start with no easy slips the club we run in would not allow it. just because someone hasnt seen it done doesnt mean it doesnt happen when theres good dogs involved .
  22. saw mcullochs rambo kill 8 in one day on the fens midwinter and the following saturday the full litter sister killed nine wasnt there for the nine but plenty of people saw it and none of these hares were kickups .and there were plenty of witnesses both days both these dogs were top class
  23. i would say they are a line of lurchers that breed pretty true to type nothing more nothing less and no better or worse than any other lurcher .as for the tumbler description imo load of codswallop they call small ones tumblers bigger ones lurchers gotta be having a laugh for anyone to take this in . over the last thirty year or so i have seen a few run some good and some not so good same as any other cross. and for the person who said their pup is intelligant at 9 weeks fair play but so is my and my sons pup sitting retreiving and lying on command and guess what cross folks its that so called
